What does everyone think of Cassidy for a girl? Smile

Maybe just about OK for a boy. It would never occur to me that it'd be a girl's name. Cassandra?

HeyDolly · 04/05/2018 18:28

Not to my taste at all. I like Cassie or Cassia though.

chezmk1988 · 04/05/2018 19:27

I love it. Isn't it Irish?x

strawberrypenguin · 04/05/2018 19:27

I like it. Shortens nicely to Cassie too

ijustdintknowwhattodo · 04/05/2018 19:35

Love for a boy but purely as a reference to the tv series Preacher

countycouncil · 04/05/2018 19:39

It's definitely a surname here (Ireland) but I still think it's cool and has a really nice ring to it.

Dergadgeghead · 04/05/2018 19:40

Wasn't 'On the Road' based on the life of a guy called Cassidy? Cool story, cool name, could work for a girl IMO.

BabloHoney · 04/05/2018 20:22

Gorgeous, love Cassidy and Cassie!

Ummmmgogo · 04/05/2018 20:26

it's cute i like it.

strawberriesandcream23 · 04/05/2018 20:27

I like it Smile

daisypond · 04/05/2018 20:54

I've been thinking about this and I've slightly changed my mind. It's not my style of name, but I think it could be OK for a girl, actually.

BrutusMcDogface · 04/05/2018 20:57

I know one who's about 6 and adorable! I've always loved Cassie but not Cassandra, so Cassidy is a great choice!

sonnyboo · 04/05/2018 21:01

Not my taste, but I like Cassia.

bumvumb · 04/05/2018 21:03

I dont really like Cassandra either, do like Cassia though too!

I'm sorry, but I think the trend for picking an Irish surname & using it for a girl's first name is really weird.

I don't like it at all, but I'm not keen on surnames for first names anyway.

agentdaisy · 04/05/2018 21:11

Cassidy is the name I really wanted for dd2 but dh vetoed it. Imo it's a lovely name for a girl.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 04/05/2018 21:15

It's a surname though.

BikeRunSki · 04/05/2018 21:17

I really like it, and my dc’s names are extremely mainstream!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/05/2018 21:43

I like Cassidy, but love Cassia.

mathanxiety · 04/05/2018 22:03

DaisyPond, that's odd - I know a teenage male Cassidy who was always assumed to be a girl when just his name was known.

Chezmk, it's an Irish surname.

Not my style of name at all. I prefer Cassia by a long shot.

Fifthtimelucky · 05/05/2018 08:41

I don't like it as a first name. Obviously my age, but I associate it heavily with David Cassidy.

It would be like calling a child 'Osmond'

JustSeeingHowManyCharactersWeC · 05/05/2018 08:46

I like it BUT it brings to mind Butch Cassidy and I think Butch would get used as a derogatory nickname.

What about Cassida?

strawberrypenguin · 05/05/2018 08:51

It is a girls name - there was Cassidy Yates in Sat Trek DS9

disappearingninepatch · 05/05/2018 09:13

I've only ever known girls called Cassidy so I'm surprised that people think of it as a boys' name.

Dixiestampsagain · 05/05/2018 23:57

I really like it. I always said if I’d been American, I’d have called DD Kennedy, which is similar (but doesn’t quite ‘work’ here, for some reason...that reasoning sounds really weird now I think about it!!)
