What does everyone think of Cassidy for a girl? Smile

Love it!

dontticklethetoad · 06/05/2018 00:04

I went to school with a Cassidy (girl), I love it!

AaarmadillosWhy · 06/05/2018 00:14

Reminds me of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

You would be condemning her to a life of being called Butch!!

Don't do that.

Cassia as PP said is nice.

Allthecake · 06/05/2018 00:29

Not a fan, how about Callie?

I'd just think Butch Cassidy.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/05/2018 08:40

Cassia is SO much nicer. Cassidy is a surname to me.

STOPSHOUTINGPLS · 06/05/2018 11:45

BUTCH BUTCH BUTCH.

harrietm87 · 06/05/2018 11:55

Why have bog standard Irish surnames suddenly become trendy first names?

I think it's weird. I've said this before but you wouldn't call a child Patel or Petrov or Esposito if you weren't Indian or Russian or Italian so why so many Cassidy, Murphy, Kennedys etc?

Just give her a girl's first name. Cassie is cute.

SilverySurfer · 06/05/2018 15:06

Great as middle name with Hopalong as first name (1950s cowboy tv show) otherwise not nice as a girl's name.

midsomermurderess · 06/05/2018 19:20

To me it's a pub in County Clare.

mathanxiety · 06/05/2018 20:03

Harriet - I think the trend comes from the US. It started with Ryan.

I know several small Nolans and Kennedys here, one Cassidy (and one Kassidi), several Caseys, McKennas, and if I sat down to think about it I am sure there are more.

mathanxiety · 06/05/2018 20:06

Along with the Irish surnames there are Anglo names heard everywhere - Mason, Sawyer, Parker, Harper, Carson, Carter, Gibson, Heath, Campbell, Dawson, Grayson, Harrison, Jackson, Lincoln, McKenzie, Presley, Taylor, Tyler, Winston, Beckett, Bennett, etc., etc.,

Brady, Quinn, Grady - some more Irish names.

weekfour · 07/05/2018 08:34

Reminds me of the vampire in Preacher too.

ABitOTT · 07/05/2018 09:46

I know a 14 year old Cassidy. Suits her very well & is a lovely name

blairsey · 07/05/2018 09:48

I like it :) I prefer Cassia or Kennedy though

viques · 07/05/2018 10:09

Cassia ? Why would any one want to name their child after a laxative?

2totwo · 07/05/2018 14:00

@viques I would never make that association. There are many many plants in that genus with many different properties. I would associate it more with cinnamon.

keiratwiceknightly · 07/05/2018 14:03

I have a Cassie but it's short for Catherine. Great names both. Like Cassia also.

PandaCat · 09/05/2018 13:49

I knew a Cassidy, I think it's really nice for a girl.
