I love this name but I know it's an old name. I was thinking of having Ivy Elizabeth. What are your honest opinions?

I am not keen TBH sorry OP - is does seem old fashioned and also ivy isn't even a nice plant - horrid to look at and destructive. However, I am a big believer that you choose what YOU like that is what matters.

feelinggoodinspring · 03/05/2018 18:00

Hi, thank you for your opinion. Yeah I think it is old fashioned I just think it's a nice name. Still got another 20 weeks to decide though!
I love Amy Elizabeth which is more modern Smile

Ivy Elizabeth would be a lovely name.

Tumbleted · 03/05/2018 18:03

I like Ivy, think it is becoming quite popular though thanks to Beyoncé. Ivy Elizabeth sounds lovely together

LaGattaNera · 03/05/2018 18:04

I do really like Amy always have - not that my opinion is relevant OP! I think sometimes it makes a difference is perhaps someone (me) has met a few Ivys all of whom were elderly and unpleasant sorry!

chezmk1988 · 03/05/2018 18:13

I adore Ivy Elizabeth

Bubblesandsquarks · 03/05/2018 18:16

I much prefer ivy to Amy, definitely a 'this generation' name whereas Amy is fairly common around 20 y/o generation so will be fairly dated soon i'd think.

PinkFluffyFairy · 03/05/2018 18:28

I love it! I personally think it's a very beautiful plant too.
And it can't be shortened, which is another plus point.

Tumbleted · 03/05/2018 18:34

You’d think Pink but the Ivy I know gets called Ives

RavenWings · 03/05/2018 18:40

I agree, Ivy is actually a much more current sounding name than amy. Far nicer too imo.

VeggieTaco · 03/05/2018 18:41

I absolutely love Ivy. Classic and not overused.

feelinggoodinspring · 03/05/2018 18:42

Thank you for all your responses Smile I do really like Ivy. It was my Auntie's name and Elizabeth was my Grandma's name (both sisters), so it would also have a lot of meaning in to it.

deptfordgirl · 03/05/2018 18:42

I like it. It's quite trendy at the moment, I know a couple of under 2s called it and a new baby.

VeggieTaco · 03/05/2018 18:43

It was also my aunties name OP. And she was lovely, so I may be biased Grin

CandyMelts · 03/05/2018 18:44

Love it

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 03/05/2018 18:44

I know Ivy is very popular but I have no idea why. It's not a classic name but one that will go out of fashion.

Elizabeth is so much better. Elizabeth Ivy?

daisypond · 03/05/2018 20:48

Sorry, I really dislike it. Ivy is a weed, not a nice plant. And there's poison ivy and the Corrie character, neither of which are pleasant. Definitely not a classic name.

beckieperk · 03/05/2018 20:53

Love Ivy. Was my no 1 girls name (I had another boy). Mine was Ivy Rose (Rose is grans name) but Elizabeth is nice too.
My other girls name was Molly.

VileyRose · 03/05/2018 21:26

Just think of I-V drip.

happytobemrsg · 03/05/2018 21:28

I love love love Ivy Elizabeth. Great name!

RosieCotton · 03/05/2018 21:50

Ivy was the only name we ever consodered for a girl. We were going to have Ivy Catherine. Its a beautiful name. I say if you love it then use it.

Only reason we didnt end up using it was because we had a boy. X

Shruggy · 03/05/2018 22:12

Two of my family names I would love to use. Beautiful together.
Great choice!

SmallBlondeMama · 03/05/2018 22:19

I love it!!

NordicNobody · 04/05/2018 00:14

Love it, especially since it has meaning :)

DramaAlpaca · 04/05/2018 00:20

I really like it. I'm not generally a fan of 'granny chic' names but I do like Ivy.
