Girl name Ivy

I love this name but I know it's an old name. I was thinking of having Ivy Elizabeth. What are your honest opinions?

I am not keen TBH sorry OP - is does seem old fashioned and also ivy isn't even a nice plant - horrid to look at and destructive. However, I am a big believer that you choose what YOU like that is what matters.

Hi, thank you for your opinion. Yeah I think it is old fashioned I just think it's a nice name. Still got another 20 weeks to decide though!
I love Amy Elizabeth which is more modern Smile

I like Ivy, think it is becoming quite popular though thanks to Beyoncé. Ivy Elizabeth sounds lovely together

I do really like Amy always have - not that my opinion is relevant OP! I think sometimes it makes a difference is perhaps someone (me) has met a few Ivys all of whom were elderly and unpleasant sorry!

I much prefer ivy to Amy, definitely a 'this generation' name whereas Amy is fairly common around 20 y/o generation so will be fairly dated soon i'd think.

I love it! I personally think it's a very beautiful plant too.
And it can't be shortened, which is another plus point.

I agree, Ivy is actually a much more current sounding name than amy. Far nicer too imo.

Thank you for all your responses Smile I do really like Ivy. It was my Auntie's name and Elizabeth was my Grandma's name (both sisters), so it would also have a lot of meaning in to it.

I like it. It's quite trendy at the moment, I know a couple of under 2s called it and a new baby.

I know Ivy is very popular but I have no idea why. It's not a classic name but one that will go out of fashion.

Elizabeth is so much better. Elizabeth Ivy?

Sorry, I really dislike it. Ivy is a weed, not a nice plant. And there's poison ivy and the Corrie character, neither of which are pleasant. Definitely not a classic name.

Love Ivy. Was my no 1 girls name (I had another boy). Mine was Ivy Rose (Rose is grans name) but Elizabeth is nice too.
My other girls name was Molly.

Ivy was the only name we ever consodered for a girl. We were going to have Ivy Catherine. Its a beautiful name. I say if you love it then use it.

Only reason we didnt end up using it was because we had a boy. X

I really like it. I'm not generally a fan of 'granny chic' names but I do like Ivy.
