DH wants to name DD1 Susanna as it has important family links for him but I'm just not sure if I like it or not.

What does the mumsnet jury think?

I don’t like it. It seems outdated to me (in the same league as Susan), and it’ll inevitably be shortened to Sue/Susie/Suze.

Anna alone is nicer.

KanyeWesticle · 26/04/2018 08:30

Lovely. My preference is with an s, without an h.

She'll have to spell it out a lot, but it'd be worth it.

DairyisClosed · 26/04/2018 08:33

Lovely name.

BertBox · 26/04/2018 08:35

It's lovely, but as others have said, you need to be sure you're ok with all the diminutives, and that you'd be spelling it out all.the.time.

NerdyBird · 26/04/2018 08:39

It's very similar to my name. I spend a lot of time correcting people who call me Susan. People find it difficult to spell even when it's right there in front of them on an email.
If you use it your daughter might have better luck as people seem to cope better with the 'anna' ending than the 'anne' ending in mine.

NerdyBird · 26/04/2018 08:40

Oh yes, I now automatically spell it out if I have to give my name.

Luckingfovely · 26/04/2018 08:43

Lovely!

ladymelbourne1926 · 26/04/2018 08:47

I love it

chezmk1988 · 26/04/2018 15:00

Love it. Little Susie

mimibunz · 26/04/2018 15:03

Susanna with no nickname. Why do people insist on ruining a lovely name with a nickname?

rach01pink · 26/04/2018 15:09

I don't like it. She will be 'Sue'

LoveInTokyo · 26/04/2018 15:12

I like it as Susanna or Susannah. Not with a Z though.

Enidblyton1 · 26/04/2018 15:15

I really like it - prefer it spelled Susannah with an h

A friend of mine has called her daughter Susannah. It's pretty unusual, but a name every has heard of.

I disagree with the pp who says she will be known as 'Sue'. I guess she could be if she wants, but I know about 5 or 6 Susannahs (in their 30s/40s/50s) and none are called Sue.

FusRoDah · 26/04/2018 16:43

I don't like it. She will be 'Sue'

I disagree, all the Susanna(h)s I know go by Susie.

weebarra · 26/04/2018 16:59

I really like it. One of DD (aged 4) friends is called this. She sometimes get Susie but is mainly known by her full name.

Dogsrbarking · 26/04/2018 17:05

It was on my list for dd. I adore Susie but I dread the thought of her being Sue when she was older so didn't use it.

deptfordgirl · 26/04/2018 17:10

I love it and Susie is so sweet.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/04/2018 18:10

Susannah, spelled this way, a lovely name, also Susie is cute !

LadyGAgain · 26/04/2018 19:02

Beautiful name

trueblueari · 26/04/2018 19:38

I like it!
Suzanne and Suzanna were on my shortlist.

itssquidstella · 26/04/2018 19:49

I really like Susannah. If you want a more 'interesting' version then Shoshana is beautiful.

blinkineckmum · 26/04/2018 19:54

Love it

greendale17 · 26/04/2018 19:57

It’s okay. Just that nothing more.

Suzanne spelling is much better

MikeUniformMike · 26/04/2018 19:58

Susannah is the standard spelling. It's lovely. Susie is too. Not so keen on Sue. Suzanna seems a bit 1960/70s, although it was Suzanne then.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 26/04/2018 20:02

I don’t like it.
