Does anyone remember how long they took to announce Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s name?

Oops, wrong thread Blush

OhTheRoses · 27/04/2018 11:37

I think it's lovely and they've surprised us all.

TheDowagerCuntess · 27/04/2018 11:57

Is it being pronounced Lou-ee or Lou-is?

Standardpubquizname · 27/04/2018 12:02

Surely Lou-ee is the correct pronunciation, Lou-is would be Lewis

Buxbaum · 27/04/2018 12:09

Loo-we, definitely.

Buxbaum · 27/04/2018 12:09

loo-ee, even. Damned autocorrect.

Praisebe · 27/04/2018 14:08

Louis is such a drippy wet name not something I'd name a future Monarch glad i didn't bet on Albert though

kimlo · 27/04/2018 15:45

he isn't a future monarch though. At best he'll be 3rd in line, then he will be displaced by both George and Charlottes children.

pipilangstrumpf · 27/04/2018 15:50

I'm surprised they chose a French name!

sosadforhim · 27/04/2018 15:50

I tried to place a bet on Louis on one of those being sites. It was a faff and I finally have up because I was exasperated. I'm kicking myself now!

sosadforhim · 27/04/2018 15:50

*betting

TheDowagerCuntess · 27/04/2018 20:22

Phew. Had heard whispers of Lou-is! Shock

mathanxiety · 27/04/2018 20:38

Cherrytrees, I agree that the name recycling is a bit odd. However, the name Carol is a feminine version of Charles so maybe they've killed two birds with the one stone there.

Praisebe · 28/04/2018 16:22

I thought he replaced Charlotte as he's a boy ? Or have they changed the rules now so she can keep her place in line ?

IVflytrap · 28/04/2018 16:49

@Praisebe They changed the rules some time before George is born, so now gender is irrelevant to the line of succession. Smile

IVflytrap · 28/04/2018 16:50
  • was born
mathanxiety · 28/04/2018 21:34

They have changed the rules. Succession is now in order of birth regardless of sex.

Come to think of it, on top of reusing Louis, Charles is a recycling of Charlotte.

They seem to have quite a small pool of name preferences that they are drawing from.

GladAllOver · 28/04/2018 22:31

They changed the rules some time before George is born, so now gender is irrelevant to the line of succession.
Or even the sex.

IVflytrap · 29/04/2018 10:57

"Succession to the Crown Act 2013:
Long title:
An Act to make succession to the Crown not depend on gender; to make provision about Royal Marriages; and for connected purposes"

Don't shoot the messenger, @GladAllOver
