Circe?

I've heard SEER-see, SIR-key, and KEER-kee.

Sir-seeh?

OlennasWimple · 22/04/2018 16:51

Ser-see

OlennasWimple · 22/04/2018 16:52

I wouldn't use it for a baby name, though, because neither the classical connotations nor the Game of Thrones connotations are great

Awesome kitten name though

oursofas · 22/04/2018 16:54

I'd probably pronounce it Searcher

yikesanotherbooboo · 22/04/2018 17:35

yawning801 · 22/04/2018 17:58

AuntieStella · 22/04/2018 17:59

Sir-see as in the Greek myths (would not have known it was GOT as don't watch and have never read)

florascotia2 · 22/04/2018 18:07

In ancient Greek - myths etc - its Kir-kee. Modern versions say Cir-see. It just depends on how authentic you'd like to be. It's a great name.

absolutelycrackers · 22/04/2018 18:12

Eh .

Pluckedpencil · 22/04/2018 18:12

Yes, hard c if you want to be true to the Greek. But sir-say is the common English pronunciation. She is a baddie through. Then again all the Greek female character are either evil sorceresses or just generally doomed. Penelope is safe!

MadisonAvenue · 22/04/2018 18:13

DwangelaForever · 22/04/2018 18:32

tigerrun · 22/04/2018 18:34

Sir-Chey. Really, just don’t though!

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 22/04/2018 18:34

Cersei is the GoT character's spelling. Is Circe an alternative spelling of the same name?

MikeUniformMike · 22/04/2018 18:42

It's a name from greek mythology.

from wiki
Circe (/ˈsɜːrsiː/; Greek: Κίρκη Kírkē pronounced [kírkɛː]) is a goddess of magic or sometimes a nymph, witch, enchantress or sorceress in Greek mythology.

TatianaLarina · 22/04/2018 19:01

Kirkee is correct but we’re not in Ancient Greece. It’s not as if the Latin in Italian is pronounced with a Roman accent.

I prefer Seersee to Sirsee - you could use either.

Great name.
