Other welsh ones - mamgi (pronounced as it is spelled) and tadci (tad-key).

My mum's mum was always Nana to me, whilst she is Nanny to my boys. A friend used to refer to her grandmother as Cuddy.

WaxOnFeckOff · 21/04/2018 19:45

My DBro is G (Gee) and I guess there is always Mawmaw

DarkLikeVader · 21/04/2018 19:48

Henvamm is Cornish for Gran, not sure of the male equivalent?

BikeRunSki · 21/04/2018 19:50

My dad was also a Pops.
My dc aslo have a Geedee (GD - Grandad David).

Yorkshiremum17 · 21/04/2018 19:52

We asked grandparents what they wanted to be called so we have a
Granny & grandpa on one side & grandma & grandad on the other.

misslomi · 21/04/2018 19:53

My mum & Dad are Na & Da to my nephew, it’s very cute!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 21/04/2018 19:57

Grinma and Grannima both used in my family.

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 21/04/2018 20:00

My DC are very lucky to have all four grandparents, all of whom wanted to be Grandad and Grandma (precedent had already been set on one side as SIL already had children). We've just taught DC to use Grandma and Grandad Firstname to distinguish between them.

RedDwarves · 21/04/2018 20:04

My mum is Gigi. 😊

octoberfarm · 21/04/2018 20:06

I've known of a Nana, Amma, Nonna and Bumpy (Grandmothers), and Pops, Papa and Poppa for Grandfathers!

halulat · 21/04/2018 20:08

Mother and father is traditional for grandparents in St Helens.
Nin used for Grandma in the OST in Liverpool.

GreenStars · 21/04/2018 20:12

Pops and GP are nice for a grandad I think.

YouBoggleMyMind · 21/04/2018 20:12

My Mum and Dad are Grammy and Pops. My in laws are Nanny and Grandad and Grampie

Lineeye · 21/04/2018 20:13

My grandfather was bampi/ bampa. My daughter calls my father a mix of bampi or bampa. South Wales here.

lifechangesforever · 21/04/2018 20:16

Our DD is going to have 7 grandparents all together 🙈 MIL is known as 'Mammar' to her other grandchildren and my mum is 'nanna'. Plus 3 great-grandparents!

My grandad was 'Gangi' I have no idea where it came from, probably one of us as a baby that couldn't pronounce grandad properly and it stuck Grin

rslsys · 21/04/2018 20:23

We are Nanna & Pops to our grandchildren.

FetchMeMyLatte · 21/04/2018 20:23

Loving all the suggestions so far, and all the personal names you have used (love VanDad!!).
Posting mainly to pass on ideas to DM and DF. DM definitely does not want to be Grandma or Nanna/Nanny so looking for other alternatives.

Lots use Gransha as well as Bamp, here in South Wales. Mine have a Nannie and a Nanna, but call my dad his nickname ‘Allie’.

Dixiestampsagain · 21/04/2018 20:37

A very ‘cool’, younger grandmother I know is called G-Ma.

Vanannabananna · 21/04/2018 20:42

My dp are nanna and grandad

Dh dp and nanny and pappy

Glumglowworm · 21/04/2018 20:56

I’m not welsh but live in wales and love Bampy for grandad which seems to be pretty common here. I also know a welsh family living in England who use Taid
