Would you make a comment about Frozen?

I don't really care what people think inside their own heads but also don't want to get so annoyed with comments that I end up punching someone..

Thanks for any thoughts..

DD used to go to nursery with an Elsa. She must have been named shortly before the film came out.

Despite Frozen being hugely popular with that age group, none of the other children seemed to make the connection. It was just a name. Yes they had heard it before, but then six girls were called Evie and three boys Charlie so having the same name as someone else wasn't seen as unusual.

May be different with older children though. Can imagine getting very fed up with being told to "let it go".

I also have a name with a song attached and it does get very annoying when people burst into song and think they are being original and amusing Hmm

Just a thought, there's supposed to be a frozen 2 coming out in 2019 so frozen fever might start up all over again

Kirta · 16/04/2018 17:41

It's a lovely name. I would automatically think of Frozen in a word association type of way. My daughter would also be jealous to distraction 'WHY aren't I called Elsa?!' Grin

RavenWings · 16/04/2018 17:49

I would absolutely think of Frozen and I imagine a lot of kids would comment, possibly adults too. There is a Belle in the school where I work and she hears a lot about Beauty and the beast.

LoveInTokyo · 16/04/2018 18:23

I would think it but I wouldn’t say anything. Everyone knows Elsa was a proper name long before Frozen, it’s not as if you want to call your child a made up name from Game of Thrones. Other kids might not even realise Elsa isn’t a very common name. I wouldn’t call your daughters Elsa and Anna though!

Also, there’s always a chance that you could pick another name like Marianne and six months later Disney release their next film featuring Princess Marianne!

SoyDora · 16/04/2018 18:26

I’d probably think of Frozen for all of 0.2 seconds then never think of it again in relation to your daughter. And I’ve seen it lots (I have a 4 and a 2 year old). Certainly wouldn’t comment, unless I wanted to look like a bit of an idiot.
It’s a good name!

Yika · 16/04/2018 18:27

I would think of frozen but also born free etc. I have a colleague called Elsa aged around 35, I find it a rather lovely name.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 16/04/2018 18:27

Elsa is less Disney than say, Aurora. Frozen would be the obvious connection though

Numbkinnuts · 16/04/2018 18:29

I wonder whether anyone has named their DD Daenerys ?

ILikeMyChickenFried · 16/04/2018 18:30

I know someone with a nearly 4yo Daenerys

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/04/2018 18:30

I've never seen the film, but I know the names and whilst I'd never say anything, I'd think it.
My friend's name is Ailsa and people mishear as Elsa and comment on Frozen constantly.

LoveInTokyo · 16/04/2018 18:32

I actually like the name Daenerys but there’s no way you can pretend it is anything other than a GoT reference!

Mayhemmumma · 16/04/2018 18:33

I know an Elsa (older than film but only just so she did love the film) I didn't comment or think much of it. It's a nice name.

When trolls came out I did mention it to a little poppy as she loves poppy...and I did raise my inner eyebrows at an Ana...but Elsa is fine!!

Numbkinnuts · 16/04/2018 18:53

Like the name Daenerys too but don't think I couldn't raise an eyebrow if I met anyone with that name.

Big fan of GOT.

Sorry if I offend anyone with a child of that name Smile

GertrudeBelle · 16/04/2018 18:56

I would totally think Frozen and a comment might slip out as it would be at the forefront of my mind.

Ailsa is better if you want to reduce comment?

raisedbyguineapigs · 16/04/2018 19:00

I know a little Elsa. the most pissed off person is her big sister, because her sister has the same name as Elsa from Frozen and she hasn't!

daisypond · 16/04/2018 19:19

I would never think of Frozen. I'm more likely to think of Born Free, if anything. Elsa is a normal name.

chezmk1988 · 16/04/2018 22:16

Probably would and it's the only thing putting me off the name personally but Elsa is a beautiful, elegant name.

fitflopqueen · 16/04/2018 22:18

Elsa from Born Free

Vexatious · 16/04/2018 22:20

No because I would hate to be one of those unoriginal dolts who'd start bellowing 'Let it gooooo'.

blinkineckmum · 17/04/2018 04:47

Why not Megan?

Sashkin · 17/04/2018 04:52

“Ana” is just Spanish for Anna... it isn’t necessarily a Fifty Shades reference Shock

Sashkin · 17/04/2018 04:53

I assume because of Meghan Markle, blink

88mph · 17/04/2018 05:00

What is wrong with Ana?!

Elsa is lovely, you may get comments but I'm sure by the time she's old enough to mind them Frozen fever will have died down (hopefully!)

LoveInTokyo · 17/04/2018 10:08

“What is wrong with Ana?!”

The spelling, I would guess.
