...you literally can not find a name to even consider??

We had the perfect girls name but we are having a boy. Absolutely thrilled but...he is nameless. He is due soon and we have spent hours/days/months trawling for a name and just none of them feel right for our little boy. Has anyone been in this situation? It’s making me really sad. Shall we just pick a random name and hope it becomes him? We knew our daughters name before we even conceived her and I love names-guess I’m just waiting for the perfect name but maybe it doesn’t exist? Just hoping there is someone who has been in a similar situation to me. Thanks for listening to my hormonal rant.

What type of naming style do you like.
Vintage. Modern. Vintage/modern. Trendy.
biblical. Surname names.
Although you may find he comes with his name

Gordon

Aprilmightbemynewname · 13/04/2018 20:13

Anything but Gordon, exh's name and he was a useless article!!
How about Artimus? Arty for nn!

MikeUniformMike · 13/04/2018 20:14

What is the girl's name you have chosen?
Guy is on another thread, and is lovely. I just said Gordon because it was the first name that popped into my mind.

MikeUniformMike · 13/04/2018 20:15

Artimus would get mixed up with Artemis.

Marv1nGay3 · 13/04/2018 20:18

We were stuck too! We asked our closest friends to suggest some names they liked and my husband’s best friend came up with our daughter’s name! It’s a lovely name we hadn’t thought of. (We were convinced we were having a boy!)

Cbeebiesrehab · 13/04/2018 20:21

Our girls name is Edie (Edith) and our daughter has an old fashioned name too so I guess that’s our style but at this point I’m really not sure. We have gone through all the Albert/Alfred/Wilfred/Arthur type names and none of them really appeal to us

I’m but Gordon is a no😂

Thanks. Arthur was my first thought but I'm not keen on it
Is there a family name you like (Grandad/ greatgrandad/great uncle)?
How about a 'Dad' name like Philip, Alan, Richard...
I like Edgar.

GreenTulips · 13/04/2018 20:26

I felt like this when picking DC2's name. I went through the entire ONS baby names list from 2016 saying them out loud and deleting all the no's. Out of over 3000 names I got about 15 that were not terrible Wink
But one of them was DC2's name and it is perfect.

To go with Edith:
Thomas
Francis
Laurie
Peter
Philip
Kit (Christopher)

Gavin, Alexander, Max, Ross, Rex, Marcus, ...

I used to think that id have to in love with a name to give it to my child but like you, I couldn't really find any boys names both dh and I loves. So we settled for a name we quite liked and over time I've grown to love and feel like it suits my lo perfectly.

MoonFacesMum · 13/04/2018 20:59

Archie

ChocolateCrunch · 13/04/2018 21:01

I would be inclined to wait until he is born... Sometimes a name is just written all over a baby's face!

In the meantime, how about:

Stanley
Laurence
Emil
Miles
Quentin
Henry
Rupert
Patrick
Edward
Felix
Caspar
Sebastian
Nathaniel
Tristan
Julian
Tobias
Oscar
Fergus
Elias
Hector
Hugo

RebeccaCloud9 · 13/04/2018 21:15

Rufus
Fraser
Rafe
Ezra

We didn't name either of our children until they were several days old - even when we had picked, we tested them out for a while before announcing. There's no rush!

Pythonesque · 13/04/2018 21:16

It gives you something to do the first couple of days after the baby is born ... We were the same in reverse - had a boy's name we were happy with (and used 3 yrs later), but no girl's name we'd agreed on. Had to set to after she was born and work at it, took several more days. Being able to register at the hospital if we decided before discharge helped focus the mind ... Though we still had time to get one name high on the shortlist that didn't pass the granny-screen (I don't think I've been forgiven for that one but I discussed a possible with my mother by phone and she spotted a potentially devastating nickname from our surname, which ruled it out)

FinnegansCake · 13/04/2018 21:18

Conrad is under-used.
