Sophia is beautiful x

Jessica341362 · 12/04/2018 15:35

Sophia is lovely! Hope all goes well!!

mrsnec · 12/04/2018 15:42

Both were on my shortlist. We have European connections too but they were too popular in all the countries we have links too. Probably for a reason though. Beautiful and classic. Lovely meaning. I would have chosen Sophia but Sophie works better with our surname.

Sophia/Sofia

YerAuntFanny · 12/04/2018 15:49

We have 3 Sophie's and 1 Sophia in DD's nursery at the moment, DS is 11 and I don't think we'd ever encountered more than 1 Sophie his age so it's definitely on the rise.

However, I think Sophie is much nicer and if I loved the name popularity really wouldn't bother me.

I say that as the parent of a boy who's always been 1 of 3 in his class.

AnyaMoondial · 12/04/2018 16:19

Hmmm I like both. I think I like Sophie best.

I also prefer Sofia to Sophia but all are lovely.

TwittleBee · 12/04/2018 16:22

Sophie!

Spiggle123 · 12/04/2018 16:24

Sophie is a lovely name. Not struck on Sophia.

schnubbins · 12/04/2018 16:24

mangomama91 · 12/04/2018 16:28

Sophia!
I know a. Sophia who is called Sophie too so you could do both! 😂

userabcname · 12/04/2018 16:47

Sophia

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/04/2018 17:35

Just Sophie.

RavenWings · 12/04/2018 18:00

I think both are a bit wishy washy, and we have lots of kids with those names where I work. I do think Sophie will be less dated than Sophia though, so would go with Sophie.

firstworldproblems2018 · 12/04/2018 20:31

Sophie

lostintime17 · 12/04/2018 20:33

Sophia :)

DramaAlpaca · 12/04/2018 20:33

Sophie

Downeyhouse · 12/04/2018 20:36

As a Sophie my vote is for that.
My parents were ahead of the trend as I am in my late 40s.
It was unusual in the 70s but I have always loved it and it has worked at all ages.

Fairenuff · 12/04/2018 20:40

The trouble with Sophia is that people never know how to pronounce it.

I'd go with Sophie.

leghoul · 12/04/2018 20:41

Sophia

twelveangels · 12/04/2018 20:43

Just a thought - would one of them have a more consistent pronunciation in all three of your languages?

Sophie was out for us as in English the first syllable is emphasised, whereas in my language you'd emphasise the last syllable. Sophia would have worked.

sidonie1 · 12/04/2018 21:24

Sophie. It’s elegant and beautiful.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 12/04/2018 21:35

If it was Julie or Julia, then Julia wins hands down. French names were very popular in the 60s, Julie, Claire, Michelle, Suzanne. Sophie doesn't seem so dated somehow. Would you pronounce Sophia like Sophia Loren, so FEAR? That's how I think of it but I've heard it pronounced SO phia.

Yika · 12/04/2018 21:37

Sophie

Argeles · 12/04/2018 21:40

Sophia is lovely.

I’m not fond of Sophie, but what about the German name, Sophine - I think it’s really beautiful. I think the name would be very suitable given that you are German/French, and that your DP is English.
