Dulcie/Dolcie/Dulcinea/Dulcinia?

What do you think about them? And which version do you prefer?

I don't like any of them. Dulcie is the only one I've heard before but it sounds like dull.

I'm sorry, I think they are all very ugly names.

Uniglo18 · 03/04/2018 22:34

If you're Italian then go for it, it means sweetness but if you're not then no.

LastNightsMakeUp · 03/04/2018 22:37

I don't like any, sorry.

How about Darcey?

Orchidflower1 · 03/04/2018 22:38

Dulcie I like
Dolcie makes me think of shoe shopping in the 1990s ( Dolcis)
The other two I’ve not heard of and sound a little imaginary if I’m totally honest

Orchidflower1 · 03/04/2018 22:39

How about darcey, daisy or Delilah

Dermymc · 03/04/2018 22:40

Awful

Arapaima · 03/04/2018 22:41

I've never heard of Dolcie or Dulcinia. Dulcie is the nicest.

NeverMetACakeIDidntLike · 03/04/2018 22:45

I think people will find them difficult to pronounce (assuming you're in the UK)

Etymology23 · 03/04/2018 22:50

I recognise the origin which is nice, but they just make me think of either Dulce de leche or dolce and gabbana so I’m not really keen - I do think you might have pronunciation issues in the U.K. too.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 03/04/2018 22:52

Sorry op but no.

NannyR · 03/04/2018 22:54

How do you pronounce it? Is it dulsie or dulchie? I once looked after a child called Dulcibella which was pronounced dul cha bella.

upsideup · 03/04/2018 22:56

Delilah is already further down our list, definately dont like Darcy or Daisy.
How would there be pronuncation issues? They are all pronounced exactly as they are spelt.

Muddlingalongalone · 03/04/2018 22:56

Sorry immediate thought is war poem dolce et decorum est pro patria mori, followed by Dolcis like pp.
Is there something in particular that drew you to the names?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/04/2018 22:57

How about Darcey ?

upsideup · 03/04/2018 22:59

Dul - see
Dol - see
Dul - sin - ia

There are many nicer names. Dulcie is ok, but extending it just makes it a bit...weird. If you love the others, go for it. But don't choose unusual for unusual's sake.

upsideup · 03/04/2018 23:05

We actually much prefer Dulcie/Dolcie over Dulcinia, that was just another option to make it longer.

OP posts:
KarmaStar · 03/04/2018 23:05

Sorry OP I don't like any of those names

eggcellent · 03/04/2018 23:07

Dulcie is the best but I'm sorry I don't like any of them.

TenThousandSpoons · 03/04/2018 23:07

Also not keen on any I’m afraid but Dulcie is the one that I recognise as an actual name.

Uniglo18 · 03/04/2018 23:09

Would not the c be pronounced as ch as it's an Italian name? The word dulce in the war war poem is pronounced as dulche unless my A level English teacher's been pronouncing it incorrectly all these years.

lottiegarbanzo · 03/04/2018 23:09

The pronunciation issue would be people saying 'ch' for 'c' because they're more familiar with Italian and Latin words like Dolce and dulce, then with these names.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 03/04/2018 23:09

Dulcie is cute, the others sound a little like you got carried away with putting different sounds into it and didn't know where to stop.
