Would this name make you think of the tv character?

Ds2 due in a few weeks and we had pretty much set our hearts on Oliver but still go through other options regularly just to be sure.

We have just agreed we like the name Frasier but I'm worried everyone will just think we named him after the tv character. Dp couldn't care less.

What would you think? Middle name would be Robert...

Yes I would every time

MongerTruffle · 29/03/2018 20:12

Yes, it would.

Dozer · 29/03/2018 20:13

Yes, and would sound silly. What’s wrong with Fraser?

Ohyesiam · 29/03/2018 20:13

Yes

ApocalypseNowt · 29/03/2018 20:13

I wouldn't think of the tv show if you were scottish. Otherwise yes.

Octave777 · 29/03/2018 20:13

No I wouldn't and his classmates wouldn't

elmo1980 · 29/03/2018 20:14

We arent scottish, just like the name.

I like Fraser just as much but dp doesn't.

The only time I've ever heard the name Frasier is in Frasier.
Otherwise it's always Fraser.

It's a nice name though!

CocoLoco87 · 29/03/2018 20:15

I prefer Fraser to Frasier.

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 29/03/2018 20:15

No. I've got a cousin called Fraser (our grandfather is Scottish. I have also taught many Frazer's and never connected it with the TV programme. It's a name in its own right.

Treacletoots · 29/03/2018 20:16

So what. It's a great name and also one of the best TV shows IMHO. Plus his class mates wont have any idea of the reference.

If you like it then that is all that matters.

GinIsIn · 29/03/2018 20:24

Yes it would. Or that you’d made a mistake spelling Fraser.

ItsNotFairLois · 29/03/2018 20:25

In my experience, the world and their mum always think you've named your child after a tv character etc but once they are here no one says anything, they are too busy admiring how cute the kid is Smile.
We named our DS Dexter and before he was born and we said what his name was gonna be we had people asking if it was after Dexter's Lab or Dexter the serial killer. Once he was here no one has said anything, just that it's different or that it suits him. If you and your DH like it then that's all that matters.

DaphneFanshaw · 29/03/2018 20:27

Well yes, initially I would think oh like the TV show and then that would be it. Your Frasier would be himself in his own right, it's just that his name would remind me of a TV show at first.
I don't think it is a bad thing.

DaphneFanshaw · 29/03/2018 20:27

I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to think it is a weird homage to the TV show.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/03/2018 20:29

Well I probably wouldn't have done until you pointed it out

userabcname · 29/03/2018 20:29

No I wouldn't. I think it's a lovely name.

SuperBeagle · 29/03/2018 20:35

Frasier, absolutely.

Fraser, however, is fine.

Bloomed · 29/03/2018 20:41

I love Fraser

GoodMorning1 · 29/03/2018 20:46

I know children called Fraser. Never made the connection to the programme

stitchglitched · 29/03/2018 20:49

Frasier, yes I would automatically think of the TV show.

Fraser is fine though.

RebeccaCloud9 · 29/03/2018 20:52

We have a Fraser. A few people when we announced his name said 'is it Frasier like the tv programme?'

RebeccaCloud9 · 29/03/2018 20:53

But like pp said, once people know your baby as that name, your baby is who they think of, not the tv show anymore.

piercinggelo · 29/03/2018 20:58

No. I've got a cousin called Fraser (our grandfather is Scottish. I have also taught many Frazer's and never connected it with the TV programme. It's a name in its own right.

But the OP is asking about Frasier. Not Fraser/Frazer.

And yes OP I would think of the TV show.

piercinggelo · 29/03/2018 20:59

I know children called Fraser. Never made the connection to the programme

That wasn't the question though.
