Thanks for the list update, finally Smile.

Apologies for disappearing - I had an unwell child to sit up half the night with...

This woman likes to be in charge, but has only had the top job in fiction.
Her most famous namesakes are/were a UK politician and an American author, both of whom proved controversial.

Margaret?

finallychangedmyusername · 03/04/2018 09:12

Ooh could be Margaret... or Betty? Sorry about your sick child @FintyTin

DarkRoomDarren · 03/04/2018 09:49

Harper or Louisa maybe?

FintyTin · 03/04/2018 10:10

Thank you @finallychangedmyusername. He's much better now, going on the amount of noise he's making!!

No-one has it yet, but I see your thinking. Harper would be closest in terms of the author...

LadyGAgain · 03/04/2018 10:21

Jackie/Jacqueline?

finallychangedmyusername · 03/04/2018 10:42

Toni?

finallychangedmyusername · 03/04/2018 10:43

Or Virginia?

DarkRoomDarren · 03/04/2018 10:54

It isn’t one of Harper Lee’s other names; Nelle or Lee is it?

DarkRoomDarren · 03/04/2018 10:55

Oh it isn’t Sylvia is it?

Sylvia Plath and Sylvia Pankhurst?

FintyTin · 03/04/2018 11:41

It isn't, I'm afraid DarkRoomDarren. No-one has it yet.
Harper is closest both literally and in terms of subject written about.

Bexter801 · 03/04/2018 12:17

Hannah?

LadyGAgain · 03/04/2018 13:48

Toni?

FintyTin · 03/04/2018 15:04

None of those, sorry.
Another clue?

Bexter801 · 03/04/2018 15:25

Jane?

LadyGAgain · 03/04/2018 16:56

Yes another clue please!

DarkRoomDarren · 03/04/2018 17:19

Alice?

Joinourclub · 03/04/2018 17:50

Diane?

LadyGAgain · 03/04/2018 17:50

Hillary

FintyTin · 03/04/2018 18:09

On TV she is John's estranged sister; in a classic book she was match-made by the title character.

DarkRoomDarren · 03/04/2018 18:28

Harriett?

Joinourclub · 03/04/2018 18:31

Harriet?

FintyTin · 03/04/2018 19:50

Yes it’s Harriet:

Harriet means ‘ruler of the home’, so she likes to be in charge. Only Harriet Jones has had the top job of Prime Minister, though (in Dr Who).
The namesakes are Harman and Beecher Stowe.
John Watson in Sherlock has a sister with the name; and Emma tried matchmaking Harriet Smith.

Phew! Well done DarkRoomDarren, you got it first. Over to you Smile!

DarkRoomDarren · 03/04/2018 20:24

Woohoo! It was the Emma connection which helped me there. I have a dd with a Jane Austen inspired name.

This guy is pretty swish; you know the type, red brick university etc. Some people call him a square, but I happen to know that he sometimes steals sheep Shock!
