Has to be Lewis! Nice workSmile

FintyTin · 10/05/2018 10:37

Not Lewis, sorry, nor any of them so far...
Lewis/Endeavour and Mark are along the right lines, though.

May I extend my most enthusiastic contrafibularities, @throwcushions!

The Biblical Samuel heard the voice of God. Samuel Clements (aka Mark Twain) was a great storyteller. The dots and dashes referred to Mr Morse; and Dr Johnson was great with words. Except sausage, of course. Grin

You're up!

throwcushions · 10/05/2018 19:34

Finally! All of my guessing has not been in vain! I was beginning to think I would never get one right - though I must admit I had Samuel Beckett (waiting for Go"dot" in addition to Morse) rather than Mark Twain!

Great clue - I'm quite sure mine is awful by comparison I'm afraid!

This male warrior exclaims the name of a layered place online.

FintyTin · 10/05/2018 20:02

Aha! I hadn’t thought of the Beckett link - nice work! And thank you 😊
Now where’s my thinking cap?

FintyTin · 10/05/2018 21:15

Earl?

VileyRose · 10/05/2018 21:54

Hermes?!

throwcushions · 10/05/2018 22:43

Neither of those.

Bexter801 · 10/05/2018 23:34

Maximus?

throwcushions · 11/05/2018 11:41

Not Maximus.

Bexter801 · 11/05/2018 13:16

Ekon?

throwcushions · 11/05/2018 16:43

No. To give another clue, he is a warrior but he also bullies.

I should also mention that the original line has two separate clues in it.
