In need of some honest opinions please!
We’ve just found out we’re expecting a boy and are over the moon! We found a name we both like but need some opinions on it as we can’t decide if it sounds right or if family are far too polite to say it’s a little odd..!

The name, Benjamin.
Sounds harmless right? The catch is our surname is Bennett.
Benjamin Bennett, or most likely Ben Bennett in later life.

What do you think, yay or nay?

Thank you for any comments in advance.

Nay from me

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2018 21:57

I don't think it works. Sorry.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 14/03/2018 21:59

I think Ben Bennett got a certain ring to it! But then I like alliterative names.

GColdtimer · 14/03/2018 21:59

Sorry I wouldn't.

Speedy85 · 14/03/2018 22:00

I don’t think it really works tbh. Are there any other names that you like? My current favourites are Benjamin (Ben), Joshua (Josh) and Nicholas (Nick).

Joinourclub · 14/03/2018 22:03

It's not ideal , but I've known a Jack Jackson and a William Williams and people barely raised an eyebrow when they met them.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 14/03/2018 22:04

You might get 'Benny Bennett' too.

SequinsOnEverything · 14/03/2018 22:13

I like Benjamin Bennett but not Ben Bennett. I do like alliterative names though, makes people sound like marvel characters.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/03/2018 22:28

I like it. However I like names like David Davison, Andrew Anderson ect.
I went to school with a Donna Donaldson I always thought that was pretty cool.
Also Jennifer Jenson seems to have done okay.

pimlicolife · 14/03/2018 22:39

No

bridgetreilly · 14/03/2018 22:40

If you really love it, go for it. But I would wait and see if you can find another name you can also love that might work a bit better with your surname.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 14/03/2018 22:41

No. Names like that just look daft, like the parents have NO imagination.

Knittedfairies · 14/03/2018 22:45

I wouldn’t but it's not that bad; it’s hardly Neville Neville is it?

Buntysoven · 14/03/2018 22:50

I immediately thought Benjamin Button but I'm a bit weird!

AnyaMoondial · 15/03/2018 02:06

I think it' fine.i know a jack Jackson and that's always been fine.

Also I used to know a Benjamin who shortened to Jamie so that's always an option.

Cavender · 15/03/2018 02:08

I love the name Ben but unfortunately I don’t think this works.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/03/2018 02:22

No definitely not, it’s a comedy name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/03/2018 07:22

I wouldn't.
Benedict Bennett is okay, then he could be Ned Bennett.

Veterinari · 15/03/2018 07:27

I know a Richard Richardson and a Huw Hughes

Ben Bennet is fine

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/03/2018 12:10

Its ok. Not awful just not very creative either

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/03/2018 12:11

At least you don't love Gordon

Snowysky20009 · 16/03/2018 12:15

No. It sounds terrible sorry. It's a 'what were the parents thinking?' Name.

VioletteValentia · 16/03/2018 12:21

I really like it, but then I like names that sound like super heroes.

VioletteValentia · 16/03/2018 12:22

makes people sound like marvel characters.

Glad it’s not just me who thinks this

TatianaLarina · 16/03/2018 12:24

Ben Bennett is Edward Woodward II
