It's just popped into my head! We've actually settled on Fiadh but just so pass the time whilst on a nightshfit I'd like to know people's opinions 😊

I love the name Morag, maybe it's because I'm Scottish.

Mummyoftwo91 · 12/03/2018 11:21

Don't like morag, Maura is nicer

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 12/03/2018 11:25

Middle aged name for me (Scottish equivalent of Brenda or Maureen). I really don't like Mo or Aggie as nicknames either. Fiadh is much nicer.

Roomba · 12/03/2018 11:27

Oh, I like Morag! Surprised at some of the comments, but that's names for you, you love them or you really don't.

MollyHuaCha · 12/03/2018 13:47

I quite like Morag.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/03/2018 15:08

Scottish and not a big Morag fan. I love Lorna though :)

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 12/03/2018 15:09

Definitely fiadh!
Morag makes me think of a cleaning product!

Naberes · 12/03/2018 15:22

Morag is great! Yes it’s a bit clunky but that’s all part of the charm. Agree it’s a lot more substantial than the popular girls’ names of the moment.

treaclesoda · 12/03/2018 15:23

I like Morag. Smile

Fabellini · 12/03/2018 15:25

Scottish here, never ever heard Aggie as a diminutive for Morag! I like it, but maybe it doesn’t sound so good with an English accent?

FartnissEverbeans · 12/03/2018 15:51

I actually love it but I knew a beautiful, talented Morag at school and I always wanted to be her Blush

TomorrowBeckons · 12/03/2018 15:53

Don’t Like the ‘rag’ bit.

expatinscotland · 12/03/2018 15:58

Never heard of Aggie as a nn for Morag, either. It doesn't sound good with a non-Scottish accent because of the way the 'ag' is said.

Zazzleza · 12/03/2018 16:04

Fiadh is a pretty name.
I only know one person called Morag. She has to be the most bitter venomous lady I have ever met. Of course, if I knew a nice Morag, I’m sure I would have different view of the name!
What is it they say? You don’t realise how many people you dislike until it comes to choosing names for your children!

Oblomov18 · 12/03/2018 16:15

Really don't like the name. And I rarely say that. Very harsh. With 'rag' at all the end. Not nice.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/03/2018 17:57

I like Morag though i do get the Katie Morag theme tune in my head. It as the name of my French teacher at school

HelenaJustina · 12/03/2018 18:04

Love Fiadh but also do really like Morag. I know a fabulous adult one which probably colours my perception but think it’s a good strong name.

HelenaJustina · 12/03/2018 18:04

Does sound better in a Scottish/Irish accent though!

Rylanmakesmyheartsmile · 12/03/2018 18:07

Mhorag is a name I just can't take to at all. I have lived in Scotland for the past 20 years and know quite a few, but I just don't like it. If I HAD to go for it I would definitely spell it Mhorag - it looks a little softer almost I think, but it's not a name I would ever choose. Morven is another one that I really dislike and I don't even know why.

Fiadh on the other hand is lovely - don't waver - it's gorgeous

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/03/2018 18:08

In the borders it's pronounced more like Maurig so the "rag" sound isn't really there.

TallulahBetty · 12/03/2018 18:09

Hideous. Sorry. You did ask

pieceofpurplesky · 12/03/2018 18:10

Not a fan of Fiadh - it sounds like Thea said with a F (as some people pronounce Thea Fea)

I love Morag though and know a little one nn Aggie. Really cute.

WowIFreelStrange · 12/03/2018 18:12

I don't like Morag. but that's probably because it reminds me of Katie Morag the wee twat.

lecossaise · 12/03/2018 18:14

Rylan if you spell it Mhorag you would pronounce it Vorag not Morag (don't be fooled by Mhairi Black).

I have a Morag (40-something, not a kid) in the family and there's a definite difference in how my parents' generation pronounce it (Mo-rig) to how I and my siblings would (Mo-rag). Suspect the first is more traditional but I don't think it sounds nice.

greendale17 · 12/03/2018 18:15

I think of a chain smoking 60 yr old woman
