Guessing Game

Thought this would make a fun thread and maybe also provide names for people that are choosing that they wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Think of a name (your child's or any name really) and provide 3 clues.

Other posters have to guess the name and once someone gets it right, it's their turn!

I'll start:

2 syllables

Very definitely a boys name but there is a feminine version

2 very common abbreviations/nicknames

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sleepycat13 · 15/03/2018 15:41

that was going to be my guess too

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 16:57

Yes finallychangedmyusername you're up!

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 17:41

Excellent! I love Arthur but it's sadly unusable for me (sounds ridiculous when paired with surname). Sad

OK, I've got a few but am going with this one as it's a name I'm currently really loving.

This equine name links a hapless Warner Bros sitcom character, a British bwoadcaster, a soap star-turned-journalist and a US medical drama heartthrob.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 15/03/2018 17:58

Ross?

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:01

Got it in 17 minutes @Winky!

(Ross Gellar from Friends, Jonathan 'Wossy' Ross, Ross Kemp and Dr Doug Ross in ER played by the very delicious George Clooney Grin

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 15/03/2018 18:09

Excellent.

She is probably rather pale but might be in hot water.

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:14

Blanche?

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 15/03/2018 18:15

That was quick finally

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:19

I'm negotiating bedtime with 2 under 4s... this thread is keeping me sane! Grin

This short and sweet girl is dearly loved by her elder sisters.

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 18:25

Ella?

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:28

Nope sorry

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 18:42

Hi?

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 18:42

Aaargh autocorrect! Jo, my guess was Jo! Blush

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:44

Hi! Grin

Or is that your guess?! 😂 It's short and sweet but not a name (as far as I know!)

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:44

Hahahahaha! Smile

Sorry not Jo.

EleanorXx · 15/03/2018 18:53

Lily

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 18:54

Nope sorry

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 19:12

Rose?

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 19:15

Not Rose.

Do you all want another clue?

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 19:17

Yes, please!

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 19:18

She has three elder sisters - who are definitely not large men!

applesandpears56 · 15/03/2018 19:24

Amy

DuggeeHugs · 15/03/2018 19:26

Amy!

finallychangedmyusername · 15/03/2018 19:28

@Applesandpears56 was in there first!

Yep, Amy!

Amy means dearly beloved, it's a name often thought of on MN as 'short and sweet' and Amy March and her three elder sisters are Little Women (not large men!)

applesandpears56 · 15/03/2018 19:35

Well I’m actually at a bit of a loss how to describe this one - a variant on a popular name, shared with a singer/songwriter
