Easter name for a boy

Our DS is due on Easter Sunday and whilst he might not make this exact date, we are looking for an Easter inspired middle name.

Our other children have quite unusual middle names that have a reason behind them so we'd like to keep up the tradition we've started!

So what Easter suggestions are there - however tenuous it might be?

Oops gift from God not god's

lottiegarbanzo · 03/03/2018 14:50

Theodore means gift from god too (as does Dorothy / Dorothea).

I do like Nathaniel (and Nate) and hadn't realised it meant 'god has given'.

May not be your thing if bible names aren't but nice names anyway.

How about Parsifal ( Parzival, Percival). The opera Parsifal has lots of Easter significance.

ShackUp · 03/03/2018 14:52

Yes ifDS turns out to be DD you could have Saffron (trad Easter cake!)

lottiegarbanzo · 03/03/2018 14:58

Vernon for the vernal (spring) equinox, pagan festival Ostara, if he's a bit early (20th March).

If he is born on Easter Sunday you could go for Domingo? Or Dominic.

junebirthdaygirl · 03/03/2018 15:15

Tobias.. Toby also means gift from God as does Jonathan.. Jonny

Thanks everyone - I think Pascoe is the main contender. We have no Cornish connections though - is it weird to choose it?

I think it's nice to have a traditional British name even though you don't have a connection to Cornwall. As its his middle name it doesn't matter if it's a bit unusual. You might have to take a family holiday to Cornwall one day when he's older, ideally at Easter time.

GoodMorning1 · 04/03/2018 08:14

Bartholomew was also know as Nathaniel which means gift from god

We have a child with an Irish middle name despite having no Irish connection.

RaindropsAndSparkles · 04/03/2018 08:18

Slightly off at a tangent but Pascal made me think of Pascal's triangle. Brilliant mathematician and his first name was Blaise.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/03/2018 09:10

Not weird at all to choose Pascoe if you like it. Many of us have names which originated in a country or region we're not connected to.

IVflytrap · 05/03/2018 18:22

@Backtoblack1

Pascoe is a Cornish first name (it's the Cornish version of Pascal) which also became a surname.

Personally I think it's a good, underused name and am glad OP's considering it. Smile
