What’s everyone’s thoughts on Honey for a girl?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Littlepond · 17/02/2018 19:42

Makes me think of that episode of how I met your mother where he can't remember the girls name but says "I'll call her Honey" cos she was a bit naive and they kept saying "awww, Honey".

Sounds horribly patronising to me. You ok Honey? hiya Honey! Awww, Honey!

Sorry OP I'm not keen.

PaperdollCartoon · 17/02/2018 19:45

It’s very sweet (da dum tush!!) for a little child. Not so great for a grown woman trying to be taken seriously in the workplace. Think about your child as an adult not just a cute baby.

goldentriangle · 17/02/2018 19:48

I've taught 2 and they were both lovely, I don't think it's problem as an adult. One was Honey as a given name and one was short for Hunnifer .

QueenB14 · 17/02/2018 19:49

Not a fan, sorry

NotSureThisIsWhatIWant · 17/02/2018 19:50

Hunnifer? Shock

SingaSong12 · 17/02/2018 19:52

I'm not keen for an adult.

LuxuryMilk · 17/02/2018 19:52

I like it.

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/02/2018 19:53

What about
Semolina
Angelica
Lasagna
Angela Slices
Mille Feuille

Or for a boy

Eggs Benedict
Spotted Dick
McDonald's

LizzieSiddal · 17/02/2018 19:53

It’s very sweet Grin

Truthfully I really like it.

LuxuryMilk · 17/02/2018 19:54

Hunnifer 😂
Did she have a brother named Tomothy?

teewee · 17/02/2018 19:54

It's a pretty word but I have a feeling it would limit a child, can't imagine honey smith having a top job (that is definitely my prejudice though and for that I apologise)

deptfordgirl · 17/02/2018 20:20

I just think of Fern Cotton's daughter.

villainousbroodmare · 17/02/2018 20:39

Don't.

There are a few around, I used to know one, she'll be 12/13 now and it's never been a problem afaik.

ChocolateCrunch · 17/02/2018 21:14

Reminds me of the actress Honeysuckle Weeks.

MerryMarigold · 17/02/2018 21:18

Friend has a guinea pig called Honey

Elpheba · 17/02/2018 21:18

I met my first Honey at baby group the other week... except when I saw the sign up sheet it turns out it's spelt "Hunnie". I did wince a little inside I must confess!

Mrsknackered · 17/02/2018 21:36

I know a Honey. She's in her early teens. When she was named it, I wasn't a fan but she's so lovely (and gorgeous) it's grown on me. Another of her siblings has a spice name though, which is a little odd!

SpikeGilesSandwich · 17/02/2018 22:15

Elpheba - Hunnie!!! ShockConfused
I quite like Honey but that's just awful!

user258 · 17/02/2018 22:19

My niece is called honey and she is such an adorable little girl. She really suits the name.

DazzlingMilton · 17/02/2018 22:22

Imagine if she married Mr Potts and took his surname?

Or Bunn.

I think it’s quite endearing but I really don’t think she would thank you for it and after all, she’s the one who will have to live with it

RJnomore1 · 17/02/2018 22:24

Hunnifer?

Seriously?

I can't help but think honey is a stripper name.

Thistlebelle · 17/02/2018 22:27

No.

UnderTheSleepingBaby · 17/02/2018 22:28

I believe Melissa means honey bee in Greek (possibly?), you could go with that and then call her honey
