We have settled on the name Elizabeth for dd3 and now trying to choose middle names (x2). the middle names for our dds have always been family related - so far we have two in question:

Elizabeth Christina Rose or
Elizabeth Anthea Rose.

Both lovely I think, what are peoples thoughts?

The first.
Anthea makes me think of the Snowflake muncher.

MrsElvis · 17/02/2018 11:00

I agree Anthea T has ruined the name for me

Lavenderdays · 17/02/2018 11:05

Wilomena Rose was another option but dh vetoed Wilomena (but could be persuaded possibly)

Also, Georgiana Rose but unfortunately it wouldn't be inkeeping as we don't have any Georgina's or Georges in the family that I know of.
I'll think of some more...Christina Rose is the favourite at the moment.
We have used up our favourites with other 2 dds who both have two middle names - we picked our favourite female relations and combinations of our own names x

IMO Elizabeth is a lovely name and is also beautiful without too much fuss around it, do you need two middle names? Could you try one with one syllable?

MagicFajita · 17/02/2018 11:07

Are you a p and p fan op? Georgiana, Elizabeth...I love those names too.

ChocolateCrunch · 17/02/2018 11:15

Elizabeth Christina Rose or Elizabeth Georgina (or Georgia) Rose sound lovely.

papergazelle · 17/02/2018 11:28

I prefer Christina Rose out of the two. You could also use a derivative of Wilomina if you want to keep to the family theme - for example Elizabeth Mina Rose.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/02/2018 11:33

I like them both.
Elizabeth Christina Rose, would be my choice.

danceswithwenches · 17/02/2018 11:39

What about Elizabeth Rose? Two middle names seem a bit much.

DH has two middle names, he hates it as it's confusing to people, doesn't fit in bank application forms, super long work email address or end up just cutting out the less loved name, passport, visa (if required) and plane tickets must match (he gets especially nervous with travel to US), etc.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 17/02/2018 11:41

To be perfectly honest, I would lose 'Rose' UNLESS it has a particular significance for you or your partner /family. It's so overused as a middle name at the moment; every other female child I meet (and I meet a lot through work and my volunteering) is something hyphen Rose, something Rose or something something Rose.

Sophronia · 17/02/2018 12:32

Elizabeth Christina Rose is lovely

TulipsInABlueVase · 17/02/2018 12:40

Out of the first two, Elizabeth Christina Rose.

Out of them all, Elizabeth Wilomena Rose. So lovely.

Lavenderdays · 17/02/2018 16:24

I wanted a middle name dedicated to my late grandfather who was Wilfred...not to keen on Winifred which would be the obvious one...hence Wilomena or possible Elfreda? Do you think Wilomena has a close enough resemblance to Wilfred? It does sound lovely doesn't it.

Elizabeth Wilomena Rose
Elizabeth Elfreda Rose

I can see the point about having only one middle name but my other two dds both have two middle names so I think dd3 should as well but could lose Rose. However, we have a lovely family friend named Rose and I was looking for a one syllable name. Any other thoughts very welcome.

Not sure about the spelling “Wilomina”. I think it is supposed to be “Wilhelmina” and a female variant of William.

What about Elizabeth Willa Rose or Elizabeth Freda Rose?

I agree Rose is a very common middle name these days but it’s still classic and beautiful, as is Elizabeth.

daisypond · 17/02/2018 16:46

Elizabeth Christina Rose. Agree that it should be Wilhelmina, not Wilomena, if you go for that.

PhuntSox · 17/02/2018 16:52

Any Anthonys in the family? Elizabeth Antonia Rose sounds nice.

Wilfreda or Wilfrida were Anglo-Saxon female names.

Lavenderdays · 17/02/2018 16:53

Thanks for the spelling correction re Wilhelmina, agreed it's more akin to William really isn't it...back to Elizabeth Christina Rose as the favourite...will run Elfreda past DH though. Any more variants or comments greatly welcomed...a bit of brainstorming!

ooh...quite like Wilfreda PhuntSox...thanks for that one x We do have a link to Anthony/Antonia... (slightly looser) another good suggestion will bear these in mind, thank you x

PhuntSox · 17/02/2018 16:59

Lots of good Anglo-Saxon names and many are variations of male names.

Joinourclub · 17/02/2018 17:05

Elizabeth Willow Rose

daisypond · 17/02/2018 17:12

You could maybe have looser versions - such as Frederica or Winifred (Winnie) or Freda (variety of spellings). I do like Willa (from Wilhelmina), though.

Snowhite12 · 17/02/2018 18:28

Great choice of first name! DD1 is Elizabeth and I love it

Lavenderdays · 17/02/2018 18:36

Thanks Snowhite...Are you any closer to picking your dd2s name?

OP posts:
BlackberryandNettle · 17/02/2018 18:40

Christina Rose is nicer

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/02/2018 20:47

I do like Elizabeth Elfreda Rose (Elfie).
