Is Elsie overused now?

Just that really - we're thinking of a longer name but the only shortening of it that we like is Elsie (I realise you can't always affect what shortening they end up with though). Is it very popular?

In my opinion names like
Elsie Evie Isla ivy are really popular!
Where I live anyway!!

The only Elsie I know is my great aunt who’s in her 70s! It’s a lovely name, wouldn’t say it’s over popular, but I guess that may vary from area to area

It's quite popular. It is a short form of Elizabeth. It could be short for Elspeth too, I suppose. It's nice.
I don't think you can go wrong with Elizabeth nn Elsa or Elsie.

There are 2 Elsie's in my dc nursery class. I think im the exception here. go for it. It's a lovely name and I doubt its that popular elsewhere.

All the Elsie’s I know of have died at a ripe old age. Don’t know any young ones but all the old ones I knew were awesome women.

It would be a nn for Eloisa, though I'm sure she'd get Ellie which certainly is popular. The darkgreener chart (thanks Gummy) does show a spike and that'll just be given names not shortenings... Good to hear it doesn't SEEM popular to write a few people yet.

Other nn suggestions welcome!
