Normally spelt Dolcie but then that's not short for Dulcinea!

Jammycustard · 03/02/2018 08:28

India

I know a Dulcie. I like it.

brizzledrizzle · 03/02/2018 08:31

dulcie

CakeUpWall · 03/02/2018 08:35

I also know a Dulcie, it's a beautiful name and it suits her perfectly.

IamPickleRick · 03/02/2018 08:36

We had a dog called Dulcie but she was named after an aunt. I can’t get past the dog association though, sorry.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/02/2018 08:36

I think it is truly dreadful. Sorry.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 03/02/2018 08:37

I much prefer India. It's gorgeous. Can't get past the Dull in Dulcie.

Shockers · 03/02/2018 08:38

I know a wonderful Dulcie. I like it!

HairBlues · 03/02/2018 08:39

It's OK, quite sweet but the "Dull" is asking for trouble possibly?
Much prefer Daphne.

Jammycustard · 03/02/2018 08:40

I actually always thought that song ‘pass the dutchie on the left hand side’ was dulchie, but I’ve just googled to check.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 03/02/2018 08:42

I'm not keen on it is as nn but I quite like Dulcinea. Maybe let her find her own nn. One of mine has one that's nothing to do with his name, but is still a name so it's stuck.

I like India too.

strugglingtodomybest · 03/02/2018 08:44

I prefer Dolcie, but prefer Dulcie over India. India is so pretentious.

ManyFloralBlouses · 03/02/2018 08:48

Dulcie is lovely like the character from The Boyfriend

MyfanwyMontez · 03/02/2018 08:48

I really liked it but my DF said “Well, you’d be saying ‘Dul, come here etc’ “ - then it put me right off it.

MrsEricBana · 03/02/2018 08:48

I know a lovely girl called Dulcie but can't say the name does her any favours. If it were me I'd go for Alba. I think perhaps India has been and gone?

ChocolateCrunch · 03/02/2018 08:49

Don't like Dulcie, sorry. India is far nicer.

Joinourclub · 03/02/2018 08:51

I prefer Dolcie as the Dull in Dulcie put me off.

I too find India a bit pretentious.

What about:
Suki / Susannah
Delores

SuperBeagle · 03/02/2018 08:53

My grandmother's name. She thinks it's awful and forbade any of us from using it for our children.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with her. It's not a nice name. Dulcinea is particularly dire.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 03/02/2018 09:12

It's just a very clunky, ugly name to me. I did know one when I was at school who was really lovely but was known as 'Dulce' which to me was a combo of dunce and dull. Not good at all.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 03/02/2018 09:35

For some reason I hate the name Dolcie / Dulcie. It sounds like dull and dulse, (a type of edible seaweed, which was popular in NI when I was growing up there).

India is lovely. I’d definitely go with that.

GlorianaBanana · 03/02/2018 10:07

Dulcie is beautiful with a lovely meaning. But I would just use it as a standalone name. Duclinea is quite fussy imo and wonder whether you'll ever actually use it?

TroysMammy · 03/02/2018 10:11

I always think a Dulcie is a tiny, rotund, white curly haired, bespectacled sweet old lady who also makes Welsh cakes.

ReggaetonLente · 03/02/2018 10:17

I love it but DH hates it. As pp say it is a very old name.

I know a fab, very cool and beautiful teenage Dulcie so am probably biased!
