What do you think?

I’ve seen a few older threads where people have alluded to “airhead” “cheerleader” connotations. Or is that more an American thing?

Is it old fashioned?

Frumpy and old fashioned.

EivissaSenorita · 10/01/2018 16:54

Love it 😊

gunsandbanjos · 10/01/2018 16:57

Went to university with a heather, she was definitely not an airhead.

Love the name.

It's nice when the R is pronounced but my niece is called Heather and lived in England for a while and hated the way everyone pronounced it Heathah

Santasbigredbobblehat · 10/01/2018 17:21

I like it. Think it could be the new Hazel.

whatsagoodusername · 10/01/2018 19:13

In my personal experience, the biggest problem is that it's virtually impossible to pronounce by anyone who isn't native English-speaking. Some languages can't do the H, others TH, and loads of them have a different pronunciation of R.

'Ever, 'Effer, 'Edder, 'Everrrrr....

That said, I really like it and it's not really been an issue.

I've only had Heifer from non-English speakers who couldn't say it and didn't know what a heifer was.

Piffpaffpoff · 10/01/2018 19:17

Love it. Was in our top 3 but we decided it didn’t flow well with our surname so we didn’t go with it.

Veterinari · 10/01/2018 19:25

Classic Scottish/northern English name. Not too popular.
Fed not an airhead name - think that’s an American thing.
The ‘th’ sound is tricky to pronounce for non English speakers by that’s the same for other ‘th’ names eg Ethan, Matthew etc

Hev-er round this part.

Age range 50-70. Yuck- sorry!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 10/01/2018 20:57

My best friend is a Heather. My favourite style of name - a real name everyone knows, but rarely used. A rule I’ve followed for my own kids. Great choice!

Jboure · 10/01/2018 21:00

I like it. I like hazel too.

DramaAlpaca · 10/01/2018 21:05

It's too 1970s for me. I like Hazel a lot, but there's something frumpy about Heather.
