What do you think?

I’ve seen a few older threads where people have alluded to “airhead” “cheerleader” connotations. Or is that more an American thing?

Is it old fashioned?

Went to university with a heather, she was definitely not an airhead.

It's nice when the R is pronounced but my niece is called Heather and lived in England for a while and hated the way everyone pronounced it Heathah

In my personal experience, the biggest problem is that it's virtually impossible to pronounce by anyone who isn't native English-speaking. Some languages can't do the H, others TH, and loads of them have a different pronunciation of R.

'Ever, 'Effer, 'Edder, 'Everrrrr....

That said, I really like it and it's not really been an issue.

I've only had Heifer from non-English speakers who couldn't say it and didn't know what a heifer was.

Love it. Was in our top 3 but we decided it didn’t flow well with our surname so we didn’t go with it.

Classic Scottish/northern English name. Not too popular.
Fed not an airhead name - think that’s an American thing.
The ‘th’ sound is tricky to pronounce for non English speakers by that’s the same for other ‘th’ names eg Ethan, Matthew etc

My best friend is a Heather. My favourite style of name - a real name everyone knows, but rarely used. A rule I’ve followed for my own kids. Great choice!

It's too 1970s for me. I like Hazel a lot, but there's something frumpy about Heather.
