What do you think?

I’ve seen a few older threads where people have alluded to “airhead” “cheerleader” connotations. Or is that more an American thing?

Is it old fashioned?

I think it's wonderful.

I like it I think it’s soft and pretty. Don’t like it being shortened to ‘Hev’ though which it does around here

I love the name Heather. It's classic but beautiful at the same time in my eyes.

Also, I went to school with a Heather, and she was one of the smartest girls in our class, so definitely not an "airhead" name.

Agh I agree about the “Hev” shortening. I have never heard it shortened to that where I live though so hopefully it should be okay!

I really like Heather! I wouldn't associate it with "airheads" at all.

It is a bit old fashioned. But it's a nice name IMHO.

Have you never seen the movie 'Heathers'? Classic American High School, love it.

It should by a nice name OP but it just makes me think of all the Heathers I knew at school- all total bitches!!

It's my favourite girls name but sadly I can't use it. The Heathers I know (admittedly only 2) are lovely people. I think it's a great name - pretty and not too popular.

I somehow know 5 Heather's ranging from 8 to 80! Only issue is that I'm in the SE so it tends to be pronounced as Hevva.

I've never met a nice Heather.

There is something so frumpy about it. It's just not nice.

Same band for me as: Hazel, Olive, Lindsay.

Maybe frumpy as it sounds a bit like heifer

It’s a lovely, classic Scottish Name.

We certainly don’t pronounce it Hevver or Heifer here. I can see it might be a problem in the south if England.

It's possibly old fashioned only in the sense there aren't loads of them at the moment.

I am in the SE too and only heard Heather - never Hevva!
