What do you think?

I’ve seen a few older threads where people have alluded to “airhead” “cheerleader” connotations. Or is that more an American thing?

Is it old fashioned?

AnyaMoondial · 09/01/2018 22:01

I think it's wonderful.

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 22:12

I like it I think it’s soft and pretty. Don’t like it being shortened to ‘Hev’ though which it does around here

Smoliver · 09/01/2018 22:16

I love the name Heather. It's classic but beautiful at the same time in my eyes.

Also, I went to school with a Heather, and she was one of the smartest girls in our class, so definitely not an "airhead" name.

Palomi · 09/01/2018 22:23

Agh I agree about the “Hev” shortening. I have never heard it shortened to that where I live though so hopefully it should be okay!

I really like Heather! I wouldn't associate it with "airheads" at all.

Viviennemary · 09/01/2018 22:48

It is a bit old fashioned. But it's a nice name IMHO.

buckeejit · 09/01/2018 22:50

My mother's name & an amazing lady! My daughters middle name-always liked it & not overly popular

buttercup54321 · 09/01/2018 22:51

Very pretty name.

KanyeWesticle · 09/01/2018 22:52

Love it.

NewYearNiki · 09/01/2018 22:52

Just make sure you're not in an area where people dont say the th sound.

Hevver is awful as a pronunciation

feral · 09/01/2018 22:54

Have you never seen the movie 'Heathers'? Classic American High School, love it.

It should by a nice name OP but it just makes me think of all the Heathers I knew at school- all total bitches!!

And yeah! 'Hev' Grin

mondler · 09/01/2018 23:04

It's my favourite girls name but sadly I can't use it. The Heathers I know (admittedly only 2) are lovely people. I think it's a great name - pretty and not too popular.

Navegante · 10/01/2018 13:02

I somehow know 5 Heather's ranging from 8 to 80! Only issue is that I'm in the SE so it tends to be pronounced as Hevva.

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2018 13:11

I've never met a nice Heather.

FizzyGreenWater · 10/01/2018 13:19

Can't stand it, sorry.

There is something so frumpy about it. It's just not nice.

Same band for me as: Hazel, Olive, Lindsay.

NewYearNiki · 10/01/2018 13:40

Maybe frumpy as it sounds a bit like heifer

Palomi · 10/01/2018 14:53

Never thought of that new Shock

OP posts:
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/01/2018 14:57

It's dated to me but still pretty.

Thistlebelle · 10/01/2018 15:01

It’s a lovely, classic Scottish Name.

We certainly don’t pronounce it Hevver or Heifer here. I can see it might be a problem in the south if England.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 10/01/2018 15:02

It's possibly old fashioned only in the sense there aren't loads of them at the moment.

I like it. Smile

Greenteandchives · 10/01/2018 15:02

I knew a Heather nn Hettie. Lovely name, all soft and gentle.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/01/2018 15:59

Heather is a lovely name !

ChocolateCrunch · 10/01/2018 16:15

Sorry, don't like it

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 10/01/2018 16:20

I like it :)

Also because I really like heathers and heaths. (The plants. Probably one of the reasons I adore the name Erica as well...)

holidayqueriwifi · 10/01/2018 16:34

I am in the SE too and only heard Heather - never Hevva!

Lovely name! Known but not over-used.
