Do you like it? I heard it in my sons playground today and thought it was different! Or maybe I'm losing my mind..

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 22/12/2017 21:15

I’m a bit shocked someone doesn’t know who Ian Paisley is! Shock are you from the UK OP?

Pemba · 22/12/2017 21:19

Little girl may be sweet, unfortunately her parents have saddled her with a silly name. It's a town in Scotland, it's an angry ranting Northern Irish politician, it's a well-known fabric design. It's not a little girl's name.

Yes, I know Americans use it, but a lot of them just aren't very good at naming their children. No need for us to copy them.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 22/12/2017 21:26

It's a rather disappointing town a few miles from Glasgow. That I avoid going to at all costs!
The Paisley pattern originated there. I'm not sure about a name though?

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 22/12/2017 21:28

NEVERRRR
Has anybody said it yet? Grin

I'll get my coat

hereitis · 22/12/2017 21:36

I would assume it’s where the child was conceived, like Brooklyn Beckham.

CaptainChristmas · 22/12/2017 22:12

Ian Paisley was my first thought. Definitely a no from me.

XmasTreeOhXmasTree · 22/12/2017 22:12

It's awful.

CaptainChristmas · 22/12/2017 22:13

“Ulster says no” Grin

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 22/12/2017 22:16

Grin captain!

Foxedme · 22/12/2017 22:16

I once taught a Paizley (with a Z)... He was a lovely little boy from up north. The name really grew on me because he was lovely. If you like it I'd definitely go for it x

ilovepixie · 22/12/2017 22:18

Like Big Ian and junior?

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 22/12/2017 22:23

Hate it. Please do not do that to you child!

buttercup54321 · 22/12/2017 22:29

Terrible. Please don't saddle your child with that.

BackforGood · 22/12/2017 22:56

This

her parents have saddled her with a silly name. It's a town in Scotland, it's an angry ranting Northern Irish politician, it's a well-known fabric design. It's not a little girl's name

chipsandpeas · 22/12/2017 22:58

im with @backforgood

Mrsknackered · 22/12/2017 23:00

Love the pattern, dislike the name.

Much prefer Batik...

StylishDuck · 22/12/2017 23:13

Those of you who have heard of the print but not the town...you do realise Paisley print originated from Paisley the town, that's why it's called that! Grin

I would agree that it's not a name you would ever use if you originate or live or ever visit the west of Scotland OP.

froshiechipandbrickie · 22/12/2017 23:23

Makes me think of the print (and thereby also of the town, I guess).

It isn’t ‘horrible’ but I don’t really like it, tbh.

overduemamma · 22/12/2017 23:24

My daughter is called paisley. I love it Grin x

It’s a big town in Scotland and the print is named after the town. Never considered it as a name?!!

Muddlingalongalone · 23/12/2017 00:44

First thought Ian, then Bob (as a United fan a definite no-no, then the town (which I've never been to but never heard much good about) then the fabric.
Not for me i'm afraid

Hauntedlobster · 23/12/2017 00:46

Why would you do that to a child - is it the Glaswegian equivalent of Brooklyn beckhan?

Alisvolatpropiis · 23/12/2017 00:52

Generally speaking, OP, it is wise to look up on the meaning/alternative meaning or connotations of a name you like.

Abouttoblow · 23/12/2017 00:58

Have you been to Paisley??
