I absolutely love the name Teddy and it's a strong contender for our baby boy due in May but I really don't like Theodore and I can't have Edward as it's my brother in laws name. Is Teddy a name that can be used just by itself? Others opinions would be great!

Teddy is a lovely name and as he grows older ted is a great name . My dog is called teddy aka ted but if I would of gotten pregnant 5 years ago when we first started trying teddy would of been our boy name . If you love it go with it .

Why not have Ted?

PinkCrystal · 17/12/2017 01:30

If you use Edward and Teddy for short, do you use the initial E or T?

pipilangstrumpf · 17/12/2017 12:48

Ted and Teddy are completely different to Ed or Edward. Also agree to it r being helpful if nickname and full name have the same initials.

Confused what on earth does it matter? ‘Easier’ how exactly?

DaddysGirl36 · 18/12/2017 18:18

@PinkCrystal I hadn't thought of the initial and think it's a valid point. I'm not the OP but we are using the name Ted. We are set on Ted anyway and not Edward so the initial isn't an issue for us. I think this thread gave me a wobble for a day though. This is why no-one knows the name in real life, I can't be doing with the opinions. Each to their own obvs but negative comments is not what you want to hear when you love a name.

Ted on its own is lovely.

What about Edgar? I think it's a lovely name and not too dissimilar from Edward.
