Lila the best out of your girls names imo. I also like Effie but DH vetoed on grounds of ‘effing...’
I considered Xanthe too for DD but something about it doesn’t feel quite right

Rory from your boys list!

Bringbeboback · 13/12/2017 11:17

Nancy and Rory from your list.

Also:
Nora
Violet
Rosa
Stella

mathanxiety · 15/12/2017 20:58

Don't like Effie - sounds like swearing.

Don't like Spencer or Fletcher - shares a syllable with phlegm.

The rest I like.

mathanxiety · 15/12/2017 20:58

My favourites are Rory and Nancy.

Frankie2015 · 23/12/2017 22:12

Hi everyone thank you so much for all your replies! We were pretty set on after much debate Nancy but someone in my family has just announced that’s what they’re calling their newborn! 😩

What do you think of these
Dorothy (Dotty)
Daphne

I still love Xanthe but cant convince DH

Also another boys name we’ve added to the list is Albert?

OP posts:
GrrrHotdogs · 23/12/2017 22:15

I LOVE Daphne

yikesanotherbooboo · 23/12/2017 22:18

I love Dorothy/ Dot
Daphne also pretty and a plant name if that is your thing.... it is rather of the moment , like Olive, so if that is an issue to you..
Not mad on Albert

mathanxiety · 24/12/2017 05:23

I love Daphne.

Dorothy sounds a bit dowdy to me.

mathanxiety · 24/12/2017 05:24

I like Albert but can't stand Albie as a nn. Prefer Bertie.

Frankie2015 · 24/12/2017 08:08

Oh thanks @mathanxiety I don’t like Albi either but never thought of Bertie as a NN if he was given one! I love that!!

Xanthe is awesome. I like your girls' names but I think Hallie is too tied to Halle Berry. Lila is great but there are a lot of Lilys/Lolas etc around at the moment.

I know a gorgeous little Fletcher so that, along with Rory, is ny favourite. I also think Stanley is quite cool - I taught a really clever, slightly naughty teenage Stanley and it suited him down to the ground!

Amy106 · 25/12/2017 20:51

Hallie and Spencer

Opheliasgoldenwine · 25/12/2017 22:54

I much prefer Dorothy Smile

Handy83 · 28/12/2017 09:44

Love Nancy. I suggested that to my partner. We are the same. Not finding out the sex but have different tastes in names. I like the more traditional names but he likes out there names like icini (this may not be how it's spelt and that's my major issue with it). Doesn't help that every name i suggest his nephew has a friend with that name

ImAMarshmellow · 28/12/2017 09:48

Xanthe - reminds me of a type of gum used in food..
Betsy - I like this the most out of the girls

Fletcher - I do really like this for a boy.
Freddie - also quite like this, although not sure if Freddie is one of those names that works well for a small child but doesn't translate well into a middle aged man? IYKWIM. Don't think I really like the 'formal' versions of Freddie either.

The rest? Just not that keen on them.
