I've always loved it, but now they've brought out a character in eastenders with it! I'm not due for a good while tho (so hopefully they'll kill her off)!

Bernadette is lovely. About half my
class at school took it as a confirmation name! The Bernadette I know is Bernie or Bern for short, but Bear, Etta/Ettie or Bea are prettier I think. Go for it! (I would probably assume you were Irish Catholic background too, but my name is Irish and people usually assume I am Russian, so go figure!)

My name is Bernadette and my favorite nicknames are Bee, Bunny and Bernsie. However, I have been called them all (Bern, Berns, Bernie, B-Dette, Betty, B)

I have to say though, I hate when people tell me my name is a mouthful.. its really not. lots of names have just as many syllables.
