What kind of girl/woman do you imagine when you think of the name Clara?

As the title says...my other half loves the name..im not completely sold.

What do you guys think?

I think of Clara from Heidi and Clara from Doctor Who. It makes me think of someone competent, organised and quite well spoken. I don't know why. Perhaps I subconsciously think "clear". Anyway, it's a pretty name.

I like Clara, though prefer Lara.

Only like the Klah-ra pronunciation though. Really don’t like Claire-ah

Initially, Long Distance Clara from Pigeon Street, but one of my neighbours is called Clara and she's a very nice, sophisticated and friendly woman so I associate the name with her now.

I like it although Clara and Lara are quite common around here. What about Clarissa?

I don’t think anything, I’d have to meet your Clara! Honestly, I’m surprised by some of the prejudgments people have on a name, a collection of letters!

Like brown straight hair

Bit old fashioned picture comes to mind to be honest. Heard of a child called Unique the other day. I don't normally go in for unusual names but I thought Unique was genious.

So depends on the pronunciation you'll be using

Salt of the earth type and probably quite sturdy! No idea why though.

I think of someone from the wild west... was Clara someone in Back to the Future? Is that what I'm thinking of??

I love it. I think it’s really pretty. We vetoed it because my mums grandmother was Clara and apparently she was a total cow!

I get the picture of an amazing woman who was very strong-headed. It was the name of my MIL and she was just that.

I cannot picture an adult Clara but there’s nothing wrong or offensive about the name. It’s a perfectly normal name and thus it simply comes down to taste.

I would think pronunciation problem. Drive her made when she's older

I imagine the girl from Heidi, so the name conjures up a positive, homely picture.
On the other hand it has an elegance about it.
I never knew it could be prounounced Claire-a.
As Cla-ra I should have thought it would travel rather well. In Romance languages it means "light".

Love it but it didn't go with our surname.
I have used it in a story for a character. For me it conveyed serious, hard-working, reliable, kind.
