I love the name Clara, ever since I read David Copperfield at school for my English Lit, many years ago.
It's a beautiful name, very classic.

A librarian. Middle aged, straight brown hair, round glasses, quite prim & proper.

Headgirl

therealreason · 08/11/2017 18:52

I think of someone quite polished and "together".

BernardBlacksHangover · 08/11/2017 19:09

I like it. I would group it together with names like Olivia, Sofia and Grace; popular, but still elegant and classic rather than trendy / cutesy.

I know one little Clara and one adult (mid thirties). Both are lovely fwiw!

CupanTaeAnois · 08/11/2017 20:27

I have an Clara. Irish relatives ask if we named her after the river or mountain lol!

Pidlan · 08/11/2017 20:54

Wonderful name, makes me think of Clara from Back to the Future III- kind and very intelligent.

Kpo58 · 08/11/2017 21:39

Dowdy Maiden Aunt from America. I really dislike the name.

HoratioNightboy · 08/11/2017 21:47

I only know one and she's a monumental snob, so that sadly colours my view of the name.

PumpkinSquash · 09/11/2017 00:41

Long Distance Clara from Pigeon Street springs straight to my mind! shows age

oldlaundbooth · 09/11/2017 00:43

I'd instantly think it's a German name.

Buntysoven · 09/11/2017 01:04

You're going to hate me....the one I used to know was a neurotic alcoholic so that's what I think of. Sorry.

ElizaDontlittle · 09/11/2017 01:08

An intelligent professional woman with much to say if you asked her.

Congratulations OP Flowers

Dr Who's infernally annoying universal-vagina-womanliness-power companion who Just Wouldn't Die no matter how many times viewers thought she'd picked up her final paycheck.

If you call a new baby Clara in this decade, you're giving her a lifetime of having to answer the question as to whether or not she was named after the Dr Who character. (I do actually have a mate called Sarah Jane who was named after Elizabeth Sladen's character and she is very tired of being asked...)

llangennith · 09/11/2017 01:27

Heidi’s friend.

Bungleboggs · 09/11/2017 01:42

Long Distance Clara for me as well.

bridgetreilly · 09/11/2017 02:39

Elegant, composed, confident, in control of her life.

Stringofpearls · 09/11/2017 03:16

I like it, but it does make me thinking of a strapping horsey type who's never out of jodphurs.

stevensupersquirrel · 09/11/2017 05:39

We have a 2yo Clara - nobody has ever asked if she's named after the dr who character......

LadyCassandra · 09/11/2017 05:44

I really like it. In fact I may steal it for my 7 week bump list!

devondream · 09/11/2017 05:47

I love it and DS 2 would have been one of a girl. I have Clare as a middle name and it has stood the test of time but I still love Clara.

Interestingly people have mentioned associating it with babies, teens and older ladies. So it looks like a bake that would suit her at all ages.

devondream · 09/11/2017 05:48

A bake? = a name
