Have a girl due in January. We both LOVE Margot however only how it sounds, not how it’s written, wouldn’t want to go with Margo or Margaux either. Unfortunately it just looks to harsh with our surname and every time I see it written down I think of maggot!

Can you lovely people think of any similar names?? We like more traditional old fashioned names

I love Margot too but don't like it written down. We went with Florence for our DD but also discussed Alice, Eleanor, Clarice, Emilia, Emma, Elizabeth, Katherine, Laura, Phoebe, Dorothy/Dorothea and Heather.

Could always go with Margaret or Marjorie and have Margot/Maggie/Mary as nicknames?

I think Margot is a really harsh sounding name. My mother in law is Margaret and she grew up with 'Maggots' as a nickname.

I love the suggestion of Martha.

I'm not a fan of it tbh but I think these names are in a similar vein

My DD (age 19) has a friend called Margot. They call her Madge. Just warning you!

Olive, Bernadette , Evangeline , Alba.. I like old fashioned names (search google for nun names)!

I actually have a Margot, who was originally Astoria, but we changed it down the line ! I wasn't a huge fan of how it was written either , but I'm glad I went with the 'proper/authentic ' spelling now
