Abel? Or Suggestions for twin names

We are having boy/girl twins and really struggling with boys names.

I’ve posted before as we had chosen Jasper but we’ve both gone off of it now.

Current top runner for girls name is Effie. I dislike ‘matchy’ twin names so don’t want anything that begins in E or ends in the ‘ie/y’ sound.

We already have 3 DD’s and tend to go for slightly uncommon but not unheard of names.

So, thoughts on Abel? Or any other suggestions please? (We can’t have anything beginning or ending in S or X as it clashes with our surname)

I love the name Abel, I also think it goes well with Effie. I know the biblical story but I didn’t automatically go there and it wouldn’t bother me either. Tbh though even if I didn’t like them I would have put it in a polite way that didn’t involve assuming anything about the OP’s background or insulting their intelligence or education!!

Sounds like a lovely name to me. Easy to spell and pronounce, yet still unique!

Jeez superiority complex much. It's very easy to give an opinion without being rude - I think some people have given OP an unnecessarily hard time.

I like Abel. I don't automatically think of Cain and Abel in the same way that when I come across an Adam, I don't think of Adam and Eve.

I think it actually goes really well with Effie - they sound lovely together.

Well I thought of Sons of Anarchy!

Abel is a lovely name and so is Effie!

Opinions are like arses, everyone has one but not everyone needs to air it!

Never heard of Cain and Abel, or whatever it is some people are going on about.

I really like the name Abel though.

I'd advise against Amos, I know someone who named their boy that and everyone said what an awful name it was and how it reminded them of Amos Braeley from Emmerdale Farm and were laughing about it.

Wow the rudeness on mn never ceases to amaze me. Why do some people find it so hard to give views on names without making dreadful assumptions about the op's education or intelligence, let alone making assumptions of race and religion. Not everyone will know of Cain and Abel.
Abel is a lovely name and I do know the story of cain and Abel but it didn't jump to my mind and I certainly don't think he's sister will get nicknamed Cain. I have a name that was very hard to find a nickname for and guess what, kids still found a way of giving me a nickname based on other things so it's not always down to names.
Go for it OP Grin

I don’t know what this Cain and Abel thing is so that wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. There was an Abel on a programme about Mormons though a while ago and he had 3 wives and about 90 children and he was a top twat so that would put me off. I would also be wary of the able/disable/unable thing to be honest. I have a friend called Hope and even as an adult she gets the hopeless jokes which she shrugs off fine but I guess these jokes will upset some people, especially at school.
