My husband and I can't decide between these two names! We are both 50/50. Which name do you prefer?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I agree with Mrs Knackered. At the primary my DC attended, about a quarter of children were of Caribbean descent and many had names of the type that the OP has suggested. Another group was children of African descent - mainly Ghana, Nigeria and Somalia - and had a different type of name. There were a few from Bangladesh, Pakistan or India - different names again. A quarter of children were European, but with a mix of nationalities there as well - including French, Italian, German, Russian, etc - so again, a different set of names.

@Fekko I wouldn't have a clue if an Italian child had a made up Italian name. If I met a 'Sofibellina' and her parent(s) were clearly Italian, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.
I don't really understand what the issues with made up names are? They're not to my taste, no, and I wouldn't name my DC Zendrick but it really doesn't bother me what other people call theirs. Very rarely I'll hear a name and think wtf? And then I quickly move on. Especially when you get to know a child, it really does not matter.
I'd like to think that people respect others cultures and heritage. I think on threads like this, if you do not like it - express that, but I often feel there is an element of ignorance in a lot of replies.
I read once that the prefix 'La' used in a lot of Caribbeans names, started in Louisiana by those who spoke French. Yet, everyone thinks that's a new thing that people do to be 'youneek'

Both very silly names sorry. Bit pretentious.

People have opinions on names, sometimes MN is brutal, however people seem to get their backs up when people 'make fun of' names like this and say what terrible people they are for making fun of 'lower class' names. I saw a thread the other day where people tore apart the OP for liking very posh 'upper class' names...no one came rushing to her defence. So, what I've concluded is if you make fun of working class names your a bad person, if you make fun of upper class names your hilarious. Interesting. I am saying this as a working class person so I'm not here to wave the flag for the upper class it's just an observation.
FWIW I prefer Zendrick as I like Zen as a nn.

This thread is surely just made up to poke the hornets' nest!

They do sound made up and a quick google would check it out (if I could be bothered).

If you make up a name then you need to do your homework to make sure that you aren't setting your kid up with something that could be offensive sounding or just daft where you live. Or a lifetime of 'what, where's that from then, how do you spell that, do you mean xxx?' It's hard enough when you have an unusual name, let alone one that nobody will have heard of.

I'm still nosey at the meaning/origin of these two names.

There's a pretty popular YouTuber who has a boy called Kyson (twin is called Kayden). Not to my taste but if that's what you like Smile

Kyson - is that a Kylie/Jason hybrid?
