Help deciding baby girl's name!

Expecting our DC3, a girl, in Jan and can't decide on a name. Keep coming back to either Rose or Robyn. Both go well with surname.

I've always loved Rose, as I think it's uncommon as a first name and such a feminine, classic, yet not too frilly/girly a name and I think it ages well. And it fits better with our other DCs' names. But I strongly dislike Rosie as I think it's a very different type of name, and DH thinks it's inevitable that family members will give her Rosie as a NN. This is putting me off a fair bit.

I also love Robyn, and this is DH's preference, as he thinks it has more about it and there's more potential for nicknames such as Bobby, which he loves.

I think it's lovely too especially for a winter baby but I keep thinking as a grown woman I'd rather be a Rose than a Robyn, so would my daughter? I feel like Rose is more classic and less likely to date. But then there is something really sweet and warm about Robyn.

We've still got a bit of time to decide but I'm one of those people that likes to decide things well in advance! What are people's thoughts? Will Rose get called Rosie? Which name between Robyn and Rose do you prefer on a grown woman? Which would you choose? Would appreciate your comments, many thanks!

I really don't like the sound of Robyn for a girl, I find it quite a hard sounding name and don't like the shortening 'Rob.'
Rose is a classic and underused as a first name. Very pretty.

Thanks for your comments! Naively I hadn't thought of Robyn being shortened to Rob, that would not be good . Seems like Rose is the fave so far

love both! to me, Rose feel more timeless, elegant, feminine. It was also the name of the midwife who took care of me after the birth of DD and she was the most wonderful, caring and gentle person ever. I’m sure that influences my views.

Robyn feels strong willed, perhaps a bit tom boyish. Reminds me of Robyn from How I Met Your Mother.

I love Rose (and Rosie!). The Roses I know (2 of them), are both just Rose. The Rosies are either Rosie/Rosalind/Rosemary etc.

I’m not such a big fan of Robyn but it isn’t bad.

I know a Rose who is never Rosie. Rose wins over Robyn for me.

I really like Robyn. Like Rose too but not as much. I know two little girls called Rose - one is always called Rosie but the other one never is.

Robyn has potential for Rob which is v masculine.

I was also going to suggest Rose as a nn for Rosemary, Rosamund, or Rosalind.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Rose seems to be winning by a mile. Great to know Rosie isn't necessarily a default NN. I do love the name, despite family members saying it's been done to death. But I don't think it has as a first name.

Actually I'm not keen on Rosa, not sure why as it's beautiful, but I much prefer Rose to all the other variations as I just feel it's strong and classic sounding in its simplest form

Rose is one of my favourite names, the Roses I know get shortened to Ro or lengthened to Rosie.

I like the sound of Robyn, but I prefer it spelled like the bird (which I recognise is a boy's name, traditionally).
