Would you pronounce it Mee-luh or My-luh?

SSM112 · 29/09/2017 17:55

Like Meela

Camilla P-B's nickname, I believe.

JoWithABow · 29/09/2017 18:02

Its a lovely name Op Smile

holidayqueriwifi · 29/09/2017 18:04

Don't like it, it sounds like it's an unfinished name. eg. Mila from Camilla.

RaspberryBeret34 · 29/09/2017 18:05

I really like it and it was on my list. You might get fed up with having to pronounce it for people or people saying Milla if you prefer Meela.

Smoliver · 29/09/2017 18:06

I like it. I have cousin whose name is Milla (pronounced Mill-La), which is similar.

Greenday90 · 29/09/2017 18:07

Is it shortend for anything?

Greenday90 · 29/09/2017 18:08

It's nice I just think it may have pronunciation issues.

Greenday90 · 29/09/2017 18:09

Unless you spell it meela

SerfTerf · 29/09/2017 18:20

I'd assume it to be pronounced Miller TBH, if only because I'm familiar with it as a NN for Camilla.

BewareOfTheToddler · 29/09/2017 18:23

I like it - a friend of mine used it s a middle name, I would pronounce it Mee-la rather than Milla but I'm prepared to be corrected Grin.

Is it short for Lyudmila? My friend has Central/East European connections so I thought it might be a short version of a longer name.

Nonameyet1 · 29/09/2017 20:52

Not strong enough for me. And the pronunciation confusion would drive me potty.

ScarletSienna · 29/09/2017 21:17

I wouldn’t have guessed the pn to be an issue-Mila Kunis is fairly well known and I’d expect double L for Mill-uh pn.

My friend’s daughter is Milena but known as Mila

Sophronia · 29/09/2017 21:35

The one I know pronounces it my-la, like Milo is my-lo.

GhoulsFold · 29/09/2017 22:45

Given the pronunciation, I'm afraid I don't like Mila. I have to side with Nonameyet1 in that it's just not strong enough in my personal opinion. It sounds more of a nickname rather than an actual name.

I prefer Myla

However, we're all different, the world would be fucking dull if we weren't! So just go with what you like. Our opinions are irrelevant

My DGM recoiled in horror when I announced DS's name... but the second I saw his scrunched up little face, I knew that's the name he should have, regardless of anyone else's likes or dislikes.

It's your baby

PandorasXbox · 29/09/2017 23:14

Weak.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 29/09/2017 23:23

I know a Mila who's about 6 and absolutely gorgeous but for her it's pronounced mYla. Not sure Meela as nice.

Ankleswingers · 29/09/2017 23:29

I know a beautiful 8 year old called Mila.

I like the name.

Glumglowworm · 30/09/2017 10:13

I really like it, it's beautiful

I know one toddler Mila and one teenage Mila, both lovely girls

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 10:21

I like Mila

ladybirdsaredotty · 30/09/2017 10:41

I really like it. I know one, I've never heard her being called anything other than Mila (Mee-la). I don't see it as weak at all Smile

sauvignonismydrug · 30/09/2017 10:52

Mila is a lovely name, I know a girl with this name and she was given the name as a shortened form of 'milagro' (Spanish for 'miracle' and often used in its shortened form).

ElsaMars · 30/09/2017 21:00

I really like this name but when I look at it I just see Myla, not Meela and think that could be a problem for the poor child and for me having to explain.

essssex · 30/09/2017 21:11

Mila Kunis is very famous, never heard it wrongly pronounced in her case.
