Hester, the other one sounds like hipster sorry

IHeartKingThistle · 29/09/2017 16:14

Is Hesper a name?

I like Hester.

Loyly · 29/09/2017 16:15

Hester

Fridgedooropen · 29/09/2017 16:27

Do you mean Vesper? Never heard of Hesper.

Chaffinch4 · 29/09/2017 16:41

Hesper always sounds a bit lispy to me.

Sophronia · 29/09/2017 16:54

Hester

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 29/09/2017 16:56

Hesper will probably sound like you are trying to say Hester.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 29/09/2017 16:57

Hester. Hesper is an anagram of Herpes. Normally anagrams aren't a problem but that one would be a bit too close for comfort.

PhuntSox · 29/09/2017 17:09

What about Hephzibah?

PhuntSox · 29/09/2017 17:10

Or Esther?

MadameJosephine · 29/09/2017 17:16

I don't like either of them. Hester reminds me of Fester and Hesper just sounds like the first one pronounced incorrectly.

Esther is nice though

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/09/2017 17:18

Vesper is lovely unhelpful

Jooni · 29/09/2017 17:19

Hester seems the clear favourite.

Fridgedoor Hesper is a name, but it is admittedly pretty rare. It's from the same root as Vesper. Love Vesper but the Bond Girl thing puts me off.

Phunt I like Hephzibah but it's too out there even for me! I'd definitely call a cat it though Grin

Esther is lovely but too close to a family member's name.

Neither...would you really want to be called either of these?

Lemondrop99 · 29/09/2017 17:29

Hester

NoSquirrels · 29/09/2017 17:38

I love Hester.

FartnissEverbeans · 29/09/2017 18:38

I knew a beautiful, clever teenage Hester so that's given the name a positive association for me. I like it.

I LOVE Hesper but it gets such bad reviews that I've given up on ever using it. Sad

Dustbunny1900 · 29/09/2017 19:26

Hester..ala the Scarlett letter! I like it.

Nonameyet1 · 29/09/2017 20:46

Not meaning to be rude but I didn't realise they were girls names. Saying it aloud, Hester like Esther makes sense.

Hesper, doesn't flow as well.

LittleWitch · 29/09/2017 20:48

My friend has a DD called Vesper - it's awesome.

Mrsknackered · 29/09/2017 22:21

Hesper, at a push.

I really really dislike Hester.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 29/09/2017 22:51

I like Hester - reminds me of a character in a book called The Bus Girls, that I read as a child - she was known as Hetty.

Ragusa · 29/09/2017 22:56

Hesper is horrible to my ears. Hard, sounds like vesper (religiousy church connections) and really terrible if your child ever ends up living in the north, where she would be 'Esper. Hester would similarly be 'Ester. Which to me is a chemical!

PinkFlamingo888 · 29/09/2017 22:59

I agree with nonameyet. I clicked the thread as I didn't know the names and until people mentioned girls I was sure we were talking about boys' names!
