Glad to see my mum's (old-fashioned) name in the list. Smile
Have managed to educate myself about Calypso as a girl's name by googling but had no luck with Mace - is it foreign & how would you pronounce it - presumably not like the spice?

I met a Nigerian lady today whose name is Amarachi. Apparently it means 'God's Grace' in the Igbo language ( a Nigerian dialect). Beautiful name

JanetStWalker · 06/10/2017 00:06

Amerachi is a lovely but my brain wants to scramble it to Mariachi (band) Blush.

Benedikte2,

"I have synaesthesia and the name is a beautiful shade of blue..."

I'd love to ask you a 101 questions (I won't, don't worry!); I'm fascinated by the whole phenomenon of synaesthesia.

But, sticking to the thread topic, would you mind sharing a few other examples of which names mentioned by PPs you strongly perceive in certain colours? (Not my intention to make you feel like a performing seal, just think it'd be really interesting).

Was all-set to call my youngest Juno but she came early in May even though it has nothing to do with the month:

"In Roman mythology Juno was the wife of Jupiter and the queen of the heavens. She was the protectress of marriage and women, and was also the goddess of finance"

If she had the above attributes she would be sorted....

another20 · 06/10/2017 12:35

Knew someone who named her daughter April - which I think is beautiful but everyone asked was she born then - she always had to deliver the anti-climax news that she arrived in March....

I'm fascinated by synaesthesia too! Ben are there any names which are horrible to you, because they're a sickly yellow or anything?

Intrigued to see my name pop up again and again on this thread - maybe I should try to stop hating it!

My dog's name seems fairly popular as well, she'll be very happy! Grin
