She’d be Mellie a lot too... is Mellow too hippy?! Second name begins with M so love the flow...

And if you're "young" but old enough to be qualified to teach we're probably about the same age, if that makes any difference (though I wouldn't self define as "young quirky and individual" or consider myself to be a particularly young mum tbh)

wellthisisasurprise · 26/09/2017 06:41

@Reppin and here was me thinking this type of place was somewhere for women and mothers to support each other and chat like friends. What a horrible horrible thing to say. I will now delete this app, never use one like it and have a little cry. I hope your comment made you feel big and strong. Thanks to everyone who just gave their opinion on the name, which is what I asked for, a platform to chat things out.

The kind of people who describe themselves as Young, quirky and individual usually aren't.

😂

It's a very silly 'name'.

Normandy144 · 26/09/2017 06:47

I was going to suggest Meadow but see you don't like it. I think with the greatest respect that Mellow needs a rethink. There are other names like Patience or Serenity that would work better.

AuntieStella · 26/09/2017 06:48

The only Marlowe I've known in RL is male.

"Any ‘M’ names that come to mind that are a little different? "

For girls: Mab, Madora, Musidora, Morina, Mehitabel, Monessa, Merula, Marita, Marriott,

AuntieStella · 26/09/2017 06:50

Oh dear, missed OP's update.

I hadn't spotted it was a 'you're all bitches' thread.

Reppin · 26/09/2017 06:53

Aw OP it was just a joke. Mellow out..

Caulkheadupnorf · 26/09/2017 06:55

According to your other thread you're 29. That's old enough to know that Mellow is not a name for a child or an adult that will not encourage eyebrow raising and judgement.

Matilda could probably be nicknamed to Melly?

AccrualIntentions · 26/09/2017 07:00

I always think naming children after character traits/virtues is a bad idea (patience, chastity etc) and mellow falls into that category for me. You just know they'd end up being a highly strung drama queen.

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 26/09/2017 07:01

Mallory?

What a massive overreaction to a fairly mild comment. Have you never spent time on a forum before?

Mellow is a ridiculous name.

SavoyCabbage · 26/09/2017 07:09

29! I was 29'when I had my first baby and I had 'geriatric mother' on my notes.

Anyway, I don't like the name Mellow as a name. Sunshine? Yellow?

AccrualIntentions · 26/09/2017 07:09

If you're going to overreact like that every time someone thinks it's a rubbish name, maybe don't go for something "quirky and individual" Hmm as names like that often receive unwanted comment.

EddChinasVagina · 26/09/2017 07:10

OP is it your first day on the Internet? People can be mean, people can disagree with you, get over it.

Also, stop picking random words and saying that they’re names. They’re not names. Yes anything can be given as a name but it doesn’t mean it should; I’m reminded of a vulgar phrase “anything’s a dildo if you’re brave enough” 😉

TheChineseChicken · 26/09/2017 07:10

Myrtle
Morwenna

meditrina · 26/09/2017 07:12

You'd be unlikely to have comments in RL though, because most people have better manners.

The whole purpose of this topic is to give opinions on names unfiltered by RL manners, isn't it?

notarehearsal · 26/09/2017 07:19

I've just bought some brick pavers called Mellow but I don't expect that helps

Tiddlywinks63 · 26/09/2017 07:23

You may be Young, quirky and individual but the poor child has to live with it!
like the Chardonnay and Merlot who live next to my mum 😳

ArgyMargy · 26/09/2017 07:38

Smelly Mellie most def.

MumBod · 26/09/2017 07:46

I don't like the name, but I agree that kids don't tease. Or if they do, it's not really about the name - it could be anything.

I was a teacher and taught kids with some real zingers of names. Like, really bad.

The teachers took the piss (sorry, but they did) the kids just accepted it.

saritah · 26/09/2017 07:47

OP, if you're upset by that then imagine yourself in Mellow's shoes when she inevitably gets teased. MN can be brutally honest, but that's the point – your child's friends will be too.

I once knew a Maren (Spanish) and thought it was pretty and unique.

somewhereovertherain · 26/09/2017 07:48

Think of the children. Mellow please no.

MumBod · 26/09/2017 07:48

Just to clarify, the teachers took the piss amongst themselves, not actually out of the kid.

Not that that makes it any better.

ColossalKalamari · 26/09/2017 07:52

If you want to be quirky then change your own name to Mellow and live with it yourself instead of saddling your poor child with it.
