Which do you prefer and why?

I really like Cora

Cora is nicest I think
Then Elisabeth but she'll have a lifetime of correcting misspellings
Not Laura, totally 80s (and every one of them I've known has been a spoilt brat)

Cora gets my vote - lovely sounding name and I don't think too trendy? I like the Gallic connotations too.

Laura probably a bit dated yes in that it was used a lot in 80s so there are a lot of women in their 30s with that name ( although she would prob be only Laura in her class now!)

Personally I'm just not too keen on the spelling of Elisabeth and not a fan of Elsie or Elsa - though if you like them that's the important thing and would suggest just going for one of the shorter versions as Elisabeth might get shortened to more common nicknames like Liz/lizzie or Beth

I love Elizabeth but don't get why you'd swap the z for s?

To me Elsa is a name of its own and Elsie is a nn for Elspeth.

Elisabeth will always have to correct people on the spelling of her name. I'm an Elizabeth, and that's how people always assume to spell it. The benefit of the name is that everyone knows how to spell it.

Plus, I doubt Elsa/Elsie will stick as nicknames.

I do like the name Laura, unfortunately however is that I've never met a nice one out of the around 15 I've known/met(!)

Yes, I know about 50 adult Lauras. But no children at all so I think it will seem refreshing and different for her generation.

In answer to the question - Elizabeth is fine, but I think the s makes it look softer somehow, which I prefer. Also it's less queenly.

Hmm, Cora is very popular! I just worry that it's having a "moment" and will sound hugely dated in 20yrs time
