Thoughts on Tor please (for a boy)? Not short for anything, just as is.

I love it. I knew a rather dreamy Torgeir at uni and we considered it for ds1. For me it made me think of handsome, scampi uni boy rugged moors and stuff. Dh said it just reminded him of wet holidays in Torquay.

I know a 40 year old Tor and a baby Tor. Both short for Torsten.

Um.... do you know what Tor is, and what it's used for? You should probably have a little Google. I imagine a teenage Tor might have something of a hard time.

Torquil is nicer as a full name. Tor is awfully short.

It means "goal" (as in football) in German, as well as "gate", so I just think of that. I prefer Torin.

I taught a tor once, just as it is! He's about 12 now and it suited him!

Yeah, as in Tor hidden services, marketplace for stolen credit cards, narcotics, illegal weapons, child abuse images... There are legit uses of Tor too, but it looks a bit high risk to saddle a child with the name.

I like Torin but not as much as Tor. Not a fan of the other longer forms. I like the shortness (longish surname).

It's a Nordic name technically, I'm not but I don't think it's too "forrin" is it? Easy enough to pronounce/spell I think?
