Yes. It's 6 syllables! Pick one.

ILoveMillhousesDad · 15/09/2017 20:07

Sounds like someone trying too hard to be posh with the names, with them being synonymous with queens. Unless that's you Kate?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/09/2017 20:15

Beautiful.

Applesandpears56 · 15/09/2017 20:23

Lovely

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 15/09/2017 20:24

Prefer Mary Jayne..

SuperBeagle · 15/09/2017 21:23

My first name is just Elizabeth and I think it's too long. A 4-syllable is an ass-ache to say quickly. So yes, Mary Elizabeth is definitely too long as a first name.

Also, don't call her Mary Jane. It's well-known slang for marijuana.

missyB1 · 15/09/2017 21:24

Shorten it to Mary Beth?

euanthesheepiloveyou · 15/09/2017 21:35

Yes, too long I think. Nice as a first and middle name though.

DramaAlpaca · 15/09/2017 21:38

It's lovely. It was my great grandmother's name. She was known as Mary Liza for short.

Fauchelevent · 15/09/2017 21:43

Reminds me too much of Mary Margaret from Once Upon A Time. I generally think Marie/Maria + (name) works best on the continent otherwise just sounds like an Ametican fictional character. In fact isn't Mary Elizabeth in the perks of being a wallflower

ThereIsTooMuchConfusion · 15/09/2017 21:43

This is my name and she will get teased for being posh! I like it now I'm an adult although just go by first part but at school I hated it sooo much

barkingfly · 15/09/2017 21:50

Love it, Not posh to me

bridgetreilly · 15/09/2017 22:49

Just have a first name and a middle name, like normal people do.

SeamusMacDubh · 15/09/2017 23:14

I think it's nice, I sounds pretty and substantial (iyswim) they are both classic names and won't embarrass her at all. It is rather long though.

I decided not to double barrel DD's name when she was born 2 years ago, partly because it was really fashionable/on trend to have a double barrelled name (think lots of Lily-Maes and Bella-Roses) but maybe a tiny bit because her first name is 3 syllables on its own anyway, though her second name is only 1 so it would have been fine.

If you really like it, have Elizabeth as a middle name. Both my DC have 2 middle names Blush I think they sound lovely Grin and Elizabeth is one of my DD's names Grin

TheVanguardSix · 15/09/2017 23:18

I LOVE it!
Don't shorten it to Mary Beth! Confused
Mary Elizabeth is beautiful!

Emilybrontescorsett · 15/09/2017 23:20

I think it's nice.

TheVanguardSix · 15/09/2017 23:21

PS
DD is Rebecca Elizabeth (two syllables surname). You can never go wrong with a beautiful, timeless name.

Mulch · 15/09/2017 23:22

Two really dry long ass names

Sophronia · 16/09/2017 00:00

It's lovely. I don't think it sounds too posh.

fannydaggerz · 16/09/2017 00:00

Not keen.

sunnyshowers · 16/09/2017 00:04

It's my name lol.so I love it

squoosh · 16/09/2017 00:45

Way too long as a first name. Unless you're giving birth to a Mother Superior in which case it's perfect.

Mary Jane is nice. Who cares about the hash associations.

AnneOfCleavage · 16/09/2017 10:05

How about:
Mary Eliza
Mary Elisa
Mary Alicia
Mary Bethia/ Bethan

I actually prefer the spelling Elisabeth as it seems softer somehow.

HooraySunshine · 16/09/2017 10:17

Mary Elizabeth is a lovely name. I like it!
