Mary Elizabeth is lovely, it's not "try too hard" at all they are just lovely classic names.

Mary Elizabeth is VERY common in the traveller community. I personally wouldn't use it as a first name as it's too long but nice as a first and middle

Just the Mary with Elizabeth as a second name is lovely. Two names used as one name is just a bit common.

Well it's 2 separate names unless you mean Elizabeth as a middle name? Mary is lovely and probably making a come back.
