Uncommon but not unusual girls names?

DS has an uncommon boys name, it's a name that you'll have heard but you probably won't know very many if any.

Now we need a girls name. We previously loved Imogen but it seems to be everywhere now.

We quite like short names.

Imogen was on our list.

We went for Lara and Eliza to meet our criteria of relatively uncommon, but not unusual nor unheard of.

Of course now I have little Lara's coming out of the woodwork Wink

I think there's a change in naming style and the fancier names of the Victorians/Edwardians are going to go out of fashion, if that bothers you. I now know people who are calling babies Barbara, Edith, Sheila, Ruth, Dorothy, Maud, Hilda, etc.

I had a great aunt called Etta, short for Harriett. I've never heard of any other Etta, it is lovely.

I have an Effie, short for Elspeth, never met another. I know two baby Ettas, one is just Etta and the other is short for Harriet. Like it a lot though.
