What do you think of the name Peter?

Nomoresunshine · 11/09/2017 09:29

Dated sorry.

Sequence · 11/09/2017 09:47

I reckon it's due a comeback. Classic and not currently overused.

Elmo230885 · 11/09/2017 09:52

Its a proper name. It has the correct spelling. Personally I think it works for all ages. Not overly used. Go for it.

greendale17 · 11/09/2017 09:55

I agree it is dated. Also consider the shortened version, Pete. No thanks

DiscoDiva70 · 11/09/2017 09:57

It will be shortened to Pete, do you mind this?

Mrsknackered · 11/09/2017 09:59

My obese, narrow minded, twat of an uncle. Sorry.

Peter Rabbit does make me a little more fond of it though.

I think it's still in the Paul, Stephen, Dave, Gary camp. All perfectly acceptable for someone 30+ but I would be surprised to see a baby one.

Annabelle4 · 11/09/2017 10:00

DD (8) has a friend called Peter.

I love it. I was so surprised the first time I heard his name (in a good way), because you just don't hear it for young boys these days.

Chaffinch4 · 11/09/2017 10:03

Love it. My DS's middle name. Lovely classic name and not too many around. Perfect!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/09/2017 10:11

Yes, I like it ! Agree with the poster above, it's due a comeback.

AuntieStella · 11/09/2017 10:18

I think it's a lovely name!

It wasn't much used when the Horrid Henry books were big, because of Perfect Peter (bit like how The Beano made Walter unusable) but perhaps that's faded now?

Imabanana · 11/09/2017 10:23

I think it's lovely. I know siblings Eva and Peter and think they are classic names that shound great together.

hairymaryquitecontrary · 11/09/2017 10:24

I know a toddler Peter. But then I also know toddlers called Gary and Keith, so I may actually be living in the 1970's nope just rural Ireland which is much the same thing sometimes!

Blomme · 11/09/2017 10:26

I think it's a great name. Prefer it in full, Peter not Pete.

WindwardCircle · 11/09/2017 10:26

It was my grandfather's name and because of that I'm very fond of it. I don't think it's dated, it's a classic boys name like James, John, Christopher. Dated is names like Darren, Colin, Kevin.

MuchBenham · 11/09/2017 10:28

I love it. I don't think it's dated or belongs with the era of Gary, Alan, etc. To me it's a nice traditional boyish name.

MammieBear · 11/09/2017 10:43

Ahh it's not dated it's a classic!

Nogoodbye · 11/09/2017 10:46

Never liked it even back in the 70s.

Annabelle4 · 11/09/2017 10:58

And by the logic of a name being 'dated' - won't a 'modern' name date anyway? Confused

alcin · 11/09/2017 11:19

My ds is called Peter. He is 2.

Liadain · 11/09/2017 12:05

Great name. Almost every name dates, so I wouldn't mind that too much. Easy to spell and unusual for this generation.

10littlepirates · 11/09/2017 12:06

Lovely classic name. The one I know isn't shortened to Pete.

hawkmcqueen · 11/09/2017 12:18

I really like it, classic but underused. I wouldn't lump it in with Gary and Kevin etc.

lettuceWrap · 11/09/2017 12:36

My 6yo is a Peter.

A good solid name overdue for a comeback in the popularity stakes (although we chose it because, not in spite of it not being in the top 100 boys names that year).

HoratioNightboy · 11/09/2017 12:42

I like it! We have two in the extended family, one still at primary school, neither known as Pete (but beware the glottal stop).

However we also have a baby Gary and toddler Alan so what do we know?

NoodieRoodie · 11/09/2017 12:50

I've got one and I know 2 others locally, all of them are under 3! I think it's an under used classic and I quite like Pete!
