Im struggling if we have a boy. A few on here have said Zachary is really common but round here there is lots of Henrys Olivers Jacks and Elliots. I only know one Zach. Views?

Sorry to clarify not struggling if we have a boy just with the boys name

I don't think they mean common as in 'popular', more as in 'not our sort of people' .

I don't think it's either version of common.

Garlicansapphire · 01/09/2017 23:18

Depends where you live. Tons here.

PinkSquishyHearts · 01/09/2017 23:22

Up north

We've picked Zakariah for our little boy due in Jan! Up north too! I don't know any others!

Garlicansapphire · 01/09/2017 23:31

I like in a yummy mummy part of London and its very popular. But I think a lot of names are - so maybe just go with what you love and damn it.

Nuttynoo · 01/09/2017 23:33

Zakiraya/Zachary is a very popular name locally with the muslim and Jewish community at the moment. All my Muslim and Jewish friends who've given birth to boys recently have used some form of Zachary. I personally don't like that name- sounds a bit Saved by the Bell.

grufallosfriend · 02/09/2017 07:22

Zachary isn't very common round here. I don't like the nicknames Zac, Zak, Zach at all.

ChristmasAccountant · 02/09/2017 07:24

I have a Zachary, I know one other Zak but no other Zachary's. Up north too.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/09/2017 08:42

It's a great name, regardless.

BikeRunSki · 02/09/2017 08:46

I know about 5 or 6 Zachary:Zacariah/Zaccheus of various splellings, under 5 amongst DD's peers. Jewish, Muslim and Christian families - it is quite well used since it works in many cultures.

user1459464195 · 02/09/2017 08:46

I only know of one Zachary.

MaroonPencil · 02/09/2017 08:48

There's a Zachary in both my children's classes. Only one, but that's one out of 15 in each case, so I suppose it's quite common/ popular round here.

emilybrontescorset · 02/09/2017 09:45

It's not common where I am.

GwendolynMary · 02/09/2017 09:47

Top 30 where I am (not UK). Loads of them in each year group from 8yo down.

greendale17 · 02/09/2017 09:49

I know two

VocalDuck · 02/09/2017 09:52

I know two. I wouldn't call it common as in popular or otherwise.

PinkSquishyHearts · 02/09/2017 10:54

Our other options are Nathan (Nate) or Adam

I love Nate, and also like Adam. Prefer both these to the Zack names.

Zacks are easily mistaken for Jacks. There are two of each in DD's class !! (Y1 next week).

Orangebird69 · 02/09/2017 13:23

I only know one. It's a lovely name.

zeebeedee · 02/09/2017 13:25

I've said this on here before I know a Zac who was called Zac rather than Jack as 'there are less of them about' Now he is at school with another Zak, plus 2 Isaacs who both use Zac as a short form - so 4 Zac/ks in a class of 28, and no Jacks at all.

Sophronia · 02/09/2017 13:56

I love it. I only know one Zack (full name), no Zacharys.

TheVanguardSix · 02/09/2017 14:06

It's a great name OP and will always remain thus. You're always good with an Old Testament name.

Always give the proper name on the birth cert. even if he's Zach in RL (not Zak). That's my unasked for two cents. Wink

PinkSquishyHearts · 02/09/2017 21:08

Thanks im leaning towards Nathan but shortening it to Nate is that popular?
