Would you call your daughter Ivy if your name was Holly?

Other half set on the name Ivy for our daughter, but my name is Holly.

Worried we'll be inundated with mentions of the Christmas carol for life. But he says I am just being silly...

Thoughts?

Yes! It's no where near as ridiculous as my friend calling her DD Lola, her DH is Charlie.

No.

If I wanted to yes I would.
However, I have a good sense of humour and would be patient even after all the jokes and comments.
If you'd get arsy over comments then you better not, imo.

I was singing the song by the time I'd even reached the end of the thread title.

No, way too themed. It is marginally better if Ivy is one child of several, sandwiched in between Ann and Mary and Ivy and Jane, but definitely not for a first girl.

There is also the small fact that you don't mention actually liking the name Ivy yourself at all. Naming must be by agreement of both, don't let your partner steamroll his preference on to you.

Laniakea · 02/09/2017 16:40

no, way too cutesy.

Heck no. Just think of the amount of times your names will be said/written together.
