Although I can't find an exact publication date, the ONS name data for 2016 is due to be published soon.

Chime in here with your predictions for the climbers and those that will fall.

Arlo doubled from around 600 in 2015 to around 1200 in 2016!

My daughter's name remains steadily around 120 (though not exactly that), which pleases me.

Astonished at how high Ivy is!

Theoistfit · 20/09/2017 19:52

Emmy - I've met both. Brothers!

PeachIcedT · 20/09/2017 19:59

There were around 28000 different boys names compared to around 35000 different girls names recorded in 2016

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/09/2017 20:37

Peach interesting - and unsurprising, judging by all of the threads here about appropriating lovely boys' names for girls!

Im kinda suprised at Emily and Jessica being in the top ten, it feels like they've been popular since forever, arent people bored of them yet?
I keep bumping in to baby and toddler Ted/Teddys so not suprised its high and as others have pointed out if you combine them with the Theodores I expect that Teddy is much higher.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/09/2017 22:42

I'm surprised by Jessica. I don't know of any under about 25. Where are all the baby Jessica's?

DiegoMadonna · 20/09/2017 23:04

Jessica at number 8 is the lowest it's been in decades!

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/09/2017 23:07

I think this may be a location popularity thing re Jessica. I live in Cardiff and there are no little Jessica's that I know of or have heard in passing. It must be popular everywhere else but!

This is precisely how I feel about Jack. Lovely name and all that but it was top three for twenty-one years. There are adult Jacks from its Nineties heyday now having their own kids.
