Rosamund or one of these?

So, after much disagreement DH and I managed to come up with 2 names we'd both consider: Clara and Freya. I like them but not sure either is right. Having last min thoughts about Rosamund, Rosa for short. Baby due in 2 weeks. Thoughts?

I would go with Rosamund (Rosa). It's lovely, and different.😄

AuntSallyLovesWorzel · 07/08/2017 22:57

I agree, love Rosamund, just perfect

SuperBeagle · 07/08/2017 23:12

I like Freya best, Clara second.

Not a fan of Rosa or Rosamund at all. I find both harsh and a bit frumpy.

Sophronia · 07/08/2017 23:34

I love Rosamund! Definitely go with that!!

LarkDescending · 08/08/2017 00:05

I love Clara. I like most of the Rose names but personally would put Rosalind, Rosanna and Rosalie ahead of Rosamund.

Rosa on its own is nice - works well internationally too.

Frid · 08/08/2017 00:47

Rosamund! Somebody has to use it, for me, because I absolutely love it

AdaColeman · 08/08/2017 00:57

I quite like Rosamund, but I'd be worried that she would be called Rose most of the time, also I think Rosalie is prettier.

Clara is my favourite and I also like Freya very much.

Spanneroo · 08/08/2017 01:05

I like Rosa as a shortening, but I'd use Rosanna personally because I think it flows better as a full name. It's worth considering how well you like the full name, as you may have a child like mine who much prefers it to the short version.

I think Freja and Clara are lovely but very very popular in my area.

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2017 01:07

Rosamund is gorgeous & I love its meaning.

ClandestineAdulation · 08/08/2017 01:10

I think Freya is very pretty, or Rosalie rather than Rosamund; this is personal though, as I know someone with this name and it holds negative connotations!

Chloris33 · 08/08/2017 04:47

Thanks, yes Rosalie was my preferred name originally but DH vetoed it...

Rosamund (and Rosa) is lovely and a lot more unusual than Clara or Freya these days. I'd go for that.

SomeOtherFuckers · 08/08/2017 05:49

I like Clara

Mrsknackered · 08/08/2017 06:02

I love Clara and Freya, I think Clara just a little more.

I really dislike Rosamund.

Elbi · 08/08/2017 06:27

Personally I find the jump from Rosamund to Rosa slightly tricky as it's a different sound. Roz-amund v Rose-a. Do love Rosa though.

Love Rosamund.

Chaffinch4 · 08/08/2017 07:58

Just Rosa? Clara is lovely. Not that keen on Freya.

Jooni · 08/08/2017 08:16

Rosamund is gorgeous. The others are nice but much less striking.

Cantdenyit · 08/08/2017 08:19

Prefer Rosa, don't like Clara.

17caterpillars1mouse · 08/08/2017 08:20

Rosamund nn Rosa is gorgeous

I also like Clara and Freya. Freya's are everywhere here though and Clara seems to be gaining in popularity

friedegs · 08/08/2017 08:20

Rosamund. Easily the prettiest and unusual without being unknown.

grendel · 08/08/2017 08:20

Rosamund is lovely. A bit unusual but also nicely traditional at the same time.
Freya is nice enough but it's very popular, there are loads of little Freyas round here.
Clara is a bit meh, also always sounds a bit austere and German to my ears.

kingfishergreen · 08/08/2017 08:24

Rosamund and Clara were on our short list.

Clara was probably my favourite but clashes with our surname (think Clara Clearly which is great if you're a superhero, but a bit of a tongue twister otherwise).

The thing that put me off Rosamund was how to pronounce it: rose-a-mund or roz-a-mund.

We ended up with Rosemary (Rose or Rosie for short).

UrsulaPandress · 08/08/2017 08:27

Rosamund is a beautiful name.
