I know someone with DC (not twins) who effectively have the male and female version of the same name. Not Robert & Roberta, but just to give an example. Her choice, don't care etc. but I don't understand why you'd give such similar names when there are thousands to choose from.
Would you do it? And why?

Wouldnt it be hilarious if all the posters who know a married couple paul and paula were actually all friends?!

I know siblings stephen and stephanie. Stephen's friends always joked that his parents actually wanted a girl and already had the name picked.

I know siblings Charles and Charlotte. I had know them about 2 years before I realised how similar the names are. They never get shortened though.

I'm fascinated by Will and Jada Smith's kids being called Willow and Jaden.
