I haven't got any ideas for a baby girls name that goes with sister's name Alice. Help please :)

Madeline (by Ludwig Bemelmans)
Fern (main character in Charlotte's Web)
Lotta (Books by Astrid Lindgren, or Character in Charlie and Lola books)

A previous poster mentioned Amy. I found out this means "Loved", and I think this is so lovely.

Dds middle name is Alice, for the literary connection. Her first is Meg (Little Women), and had ds been a boy he would have had Juliet as a mn. Other literary names:-

Hermione
Primrose
Heidi
Polly (anna)
Emma

OhTheRoses · 03/08/2017 20:47

Evelyn. My grandma's sister's name. Their middle names were Marina and Helena.

Annie Rose for the Shirley Hughes books
Sophie for The Tiger Who Came to Tea! Smile
Beatrix for Beatrix Potter. Beatrix has a gorgeous meaning - "She who brings happiness."
Anne Shirley for Anne of Green Gables! Smile
Wendy for Peter Pan. I had forgotten, but I did want to be called this as a child because of Peter Pan!

Never heard the word sibset!!

My friend has a big sister Alice and a little sister Eve/Evie

MyOtherProfile · 04/08/2017 04:58

Just group of siblings really. I thought that was what everyone used
No way! Is this really a thing? I've never heard of it. I thought people.just picked a name they liked each time.

nooka · 04/08/2017 05:08

I think the OP was just explaining what she meant by 'sibset'. As she only has one child and is expecting one more I would have thought just 'sibling' would do (or just name to go with otherchildsname) - sibset makes me think of multiples.

HotLadybird · 04/08/2017 05:14

Wasn't the girl in the BFG called Sophie? Better than Sophie's Choice!

ABCFamily · 04/08/2017 05:55

Wasn't the girl in the BFG called Sophie? Better than Sophie's Choice!

Yes! A much cheerier namesake! Grin

There's also Sophie's World, if the OP has an interest in philosophy.

Crunchymum · 04/08/2017 08:22

Sibset is a horrific word but 'complimentary / similar type sibling names' I can kind of get on board with.

So if you have an Alice [classic name] calling her sister Tilli-Mai? Would be a bit "unmatchy"

Crunchymum · 04/08/2017 08:24

I know
Alice and Martha
Alice and Olive
Alice and Amber

SnarkOfTheThunderPants · 04/08/2017 08:26

Rebecca - Rebecca's world
Lucy or Susan - The chronicles of Narnia.

BikeRunSki · 04/08/2017 08:32

I am named after Alice in Wonderland too!! None of my siblings have other literary names though.

Literary names -
Emma
Rebecca
Tess
Rachel
Amy, and indeed any Little House on the Prairie name
Estella

Other sisters of Alices i know:
Alice and Lucy
Alice and Emma
Alice and Zoe
Alice and Josie (Josephine)
Alice and Jessica (I know 2 of these combos, albeit 30 years apart!)

I also know of twins called Alicia and Rosita, which is a little flowery for my tastes, but rather nice.

SerfTerf · 04/08/2017 11:23

Amy, and indeed any Little House on the Prairie name

Laura would be the obvious one from LHOTP.

daisypond · 04/08/2017 11:41

I can't think of any (nominally) children's books that have the weight of Alice. I wouldn't count any Roald Dahl, for example. I'm a fan of the Little House on the Prairie series and Laura is a really nice name, but again it still doesn't have the same resonance, if that's what you're after. The Narnia stories - Susan and Lucy - probably Lucy, because she's more fundamental to the stories, is a possibility, if you're happy with the religious symbolism. Little Women's Jo (Josephine) is the closest I can think of, and that's probably because it's 19th century, too. Otherwise, Jane (Eyre).

SerfTerf · 04/08/2017 11:44

Very true @daisypond

Can I shout "ARRIETTY" again please? Smile

Threeandabit · 04/08/2017 14:05

Marilla - Anne of Green Gables
Nancy Drew!

I reckon Wendy though, due to my own childhood wish.
